Summary:
The Director of IT provides operational and technical leadership for BeWell’s information systems, ensuring stable, secure, and high-performing technology that supports the organization’s mission and day-to-day operations. This role oversees application management, vendor coordination, user acceptance testing, technical operations, cybersecurity oversight, reporting, and the delivery of reliable services for staff, brokers, assisters, and consumers.
The Director of IT serves as the primary internal point of contact for technology issues, working closely with executive leadership, external vendors, and cross-functional teams. This role plays a critical part in executing BeWell’s technology roadmap and maintaining compliance with regulatory and performance requirements.

- Develop and implement the organization's overall technology strategy.
- Propose, plan, and administer annual IT budgets, including IT contracts, hardware, software, and infrastructure costs.
- Manage, mentor, and lead IT staff; provide escalated support for IT staff.
- Manage BeWell’s core IT applications and systems.
- Oversee maintenance, upgrades, and functionality, ensuring systems meet performance and availability standards.
- Troubleshoot issues and coordinate resolutions with internal teams and external vendors.
- Supervise the User Acceptance Testing Manager and ensure core IT systems are tested appropriately.
- Negotiate contracts for IT services.
- Serve as the primary liaison with technology vendors.
- Monitor vendor performance, deliverables, SLAs, security requirements, and contract compliance.
- Support procurement activities, contract renewals, and vendor evaluations.
- Oversee day-to-day IT operations, including desktop support, end-user technology, network services, and system reliability.
- Ensure continuity of operations through effective incident management and problem resolution.
- Maintain documentation for systems, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Ensure coordination with security vendors and internal staff to ensure alignment with cybersecurity frameworks and regulatory requirements.
- Support audits, risk assessments, and corrective action plans.
- Manage access control processes, security monitoring activities, and basic compliance reporting.
- Support project management and implementation efforts across IT and business teams.
- Support ongoing projects such as the new HIX implementation and system enhancements project known as Evolve 2026.
- Track progress, risks, and dependencies for ongoing technology initiatives.
- Assist with testing coordination, training readiness, and change management.
- Provide status reports and other information for stakeholders.
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to ensure accurate and timely data reporting.
- Support data governance processes and routine reporting needs.
- Work closely with leadership and program teams to assess technology needs, plan enhancements, and support operations.
- Communicate technology updates, risks, and recommendations in clear, accessible language.
- Maintain positive relationships with business units and act as the bridge between technical and non-technical teams.

Minimum Qualifications:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 7+ years of increasingly responsible experience in IT operations, systems management, or technical leadership.
- Experience managing staff
- Experience managing enterprise applications, vendor relationships, contracts, and cross-functional projects.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity practices and compliance requirements.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and manage competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in healthcare, insurance, government programs, or highly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with ACA marketplaces, Medicaid/CHIP data transfers, IRS Publication 1075, and CMS security standards.
- Master's degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or related field

- Suports vendor selection, contract negotiation, and ongoing performance management; enforces SLAs and optimizes the vendor portfolio.
- Fosters a high-performing, mission-driven IT culture through proactive talent acquisition, mentoring, performance management, and professional development.
- Responds decisively to major incidents and audits; coordinates cross-functional resources to achieve rapid, sustainable resolution.
