The Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining the daily operation of the organization's computer systems, network infrastructure, and telecommunications equipment. They ensure the smooth running of the company's IT systems and infrastructure by providing efficient and effective technical support, while also ensuring the security, backup, and recovery of the company's data. They work closely with the IT Manager and staff to ensure all IT-related tasks are completed quickly and effectively. The technician is responsible for the smooth operation of all technology systems, troubleshooting and resolving any problems that may arise, and maintaining a secure and reliable IT environment. They play a key role in maintaining the company's IT security, implementing, and monitoring security protocols, and staying up to date with the latest security threats and best practices. They are responsible for keeping the company's IT systems running smoothly and efficiently and working closely with other members of the IT team to ensure that all IT-related tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities 1. Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues: The IT Technician will be the first point of contact for employees and clients who are experiencing technical problems. They will need to be able to diagnose and troubleshoot a wide range of issues, from basic network connectivity problems to more complex software and hardware issues quickly and accurately.
2. Provide technical support: The IT Technician will need to be able to provide clear and concise technical support to employees and clients, whether in person, over the phone, or via email. This may include providing step-by-step instructions for resolving technical issues and answering technical questions.
3. Install, maintain, and repair equipment: The IT Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of equipment, including desktop and laptop computers, printers, and other peripherals. This will involve configuring and setting up new equipment, as well as troubleshooting and resolving problems with existing equipment.
4. Maintain inventory: The IT Technician will be responsible for keeping track of the company's IT inventory, including hardware, software, and other IT assets. This may involve updating inventory records, tracking equipment usage, and ensuring that all assets are accounted for.
5. Network Administration: The IT Technician will also be responsible for administrating the company's network infrastructure, this includes configuring and maintaining network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls. Also, monitoring and troubleshooting network performance issues.
6. Helpdesk Support: The IT Technician will provide general support to end-users through the ticketing system, email, or phone. This will include resetting passwords, troubleshooting software, and providing basic technical assistance.
7. Provide training: The IT Technician may be responsible for providing training to employees on new software and hardware, as well as new IT procedures and best practices.
8. Data backup and recovery: The IT Technician will need to ensure that the company's data is properly backed up and can be easily recovered in case of a disaster. This may involve setting up and configuring backup systems, as well as testing recovery procedures.
9. Security: The IT Technician will play a key role in maintaining the company's IT security, this includes implementing and monitoring security protocols, performing vulnerability assessments, and staying up to date with the latest security threats and best practices.
10. Remote support: The IT Technician may need to provide remote support to employees and clients who are working remotely, this includes troubleshooting, configuring and maintaining software and hardware from a remote location.
11. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers: The IT Technician may be responsible for working with vendors and suppliers to acquire new hardware and software, as well as for coordinating the installation and maintenance of these products.
12. Project management: The IT Technician may need to be involved in IT projects, this includes developing project plans, coordinating the work of other IT staff and vendors, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
13. Compliance and regulations: The IT Technician will need to be aware of and compliant with all relevant regulations, policies and laws such as data privacy, HIPPA and industry specific regulations.
14. Cloud infrastructure: The IT Technician may be responsible for maintaining the company's cloud infrastructure, this includes configuring and deploying cloud-based services such as AWS, Azure or GCP and monitoring their performance.
15. Virtualization: The IT Technician may need to work with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and Citrix. This may include configuring and managing virtual servers, as well as troubleshooting virtualization-related issues.
16. Email and messaging systems: The IT Technician may be responsible for configuring and maintaining the company's email and messaging systems. This may include setting up and configuring email accounts, as well as troubleshooting email-related issues.
17. Mobile device management: The IT Technician may need to work with mobile device management solutions such as AirWatch or Intune to ensure that mobile devices are configured and secured according to company policies.
18. Help with IT procurement: The IT Technician may be responsible for helping to identify and procure the IT hardware, software and services the company needs. This may include researching products, negotiating with vendors, and creating purchase orders.
Pay Range: $65,000-$80,000/yr

1. A minimum of a 4 year degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required, A+ and Network+ certifications is an advantage.
2. 2-3 years of experience in a similar role is required.
3. Strong knowledge of Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
5. Good knowledge of networking protocols and concepts.
6. Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.
7. Experience with one or more cloud infrastructure platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP
8. Certifications like VMWare, Citrix, AWS, Azure, GCP
9. Experience working with virtualization technologies.
