Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled SAS Programmer with demonstrated experience working with large-scale EHR and claims databases. In this role, you will support the extraction, transformation, and analysis of real-world healthcare data to generate insights for clinical studies, epidemiologic research, and regulatory submissions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with large observational datasets such as SEER-Medicare, commercial claims, or electronic health records (EHR), and a solid understanding of epidemiologic and health outcomes research methods
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and maintain SAS programs for data management, statistical analysis, and reporting of real-world healthcare data.
- Perform data extraction, cleaning, transformation, and analysis using SAS from complex longitudinal datasets such as EHRs and medical/pharmacy claims.
- Collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians, and data scientists to define data specifications, analysis plans, and output requirements.
- Ensure data integrity and adherence to protocols, SOPs, and regulatory standards (e.g., CDISC, FDA guidelines).
- Document programming processes, data flows, and analytic methods for reproducibility and audit readiness.
- Participate in client meetings and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications:Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience programming in SAS, especially with large healthcare datasets.
- Strong understanding of real-world data sources including EHRs (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and claims databases (e.g., MarketScan, Optum, Medicare).
- Experience with cohort creation, incidence/prevalence analysis, and longitudinal data modeling.
- Develop, validate, and maintain R scripts for data cleaning, transformation, and analysis of large RWD sources (e.g., SEER-Medicare, Optum, MarketScan, Flatiron, CPRD).
- Implement and document statistical analyses (e.g., descriptive statistics, survival analysis, regression modeling, propensity scoring).
- Collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians, and HEOR scientists to generate high-quality, reproducible analytic outputs.
- Build efficient and well-documented data pipelines and ensure compliance with good programming practices (GPP).
- Create clear visualizations and analytic reports using R Markdown, Shiny, or similar tools.
- Contribute to analysis plans, QC documentation, and regulatory-grade deliverables
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a CRO, pharma, payer, or HEOR/RWE consultancy environment.
- Experience integrating SAS with SQL databases or cloud-based analytics platforms.
- Familiarity with other statistical programming tools (e.g., R, Python) is a plus.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
