Job Summary:

The Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) seeks a strong clinical and informatics professional to support project-based services for hospitals and assist with designing, extracting, validating, processing and reporting data for decision-making purposes. This role requires a health care professional with significant clinical, HIM and/or coding experience with an ability to navigate hospital Electronic Health Records and data systems to produce high-quality data extracts.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and abilities as follows:

• Extract, transform, and validate data from EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech, TruBridge, Athena, etc.).
• Develop ad hoc and/or recurring reports for quality measures, regulatory reporting, and organizational performance dashboards.
• Assist with a wide range of project-based requests to support NHA’s growing health data & business intelligence advisory services.
• Apply SQL or other programming languages to query hospital databases securely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with NHA staff and hospitals to ensure extracted data meets design and reporting specifications.
• Package and transmit data according to NHA protocols and data-sharing agreements.
• Ensure full compliance with HIPAA and relevant security protocols during all data access, handling and transmission.

Required Skills:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience with health care data, clinical and claims information.
• Proficiency in multiple electronic health records and related data extraction processes (e.g., Epic, Oracle/Cerner, TruBridge, Meditech, Athena, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA, PHI handling, and secure data transmission.
• Skilled in query languages and software for data manipulation and visualization such as Python, SQL, R, Power BI, Tableau, Microsoft Access or other compatible tools.
• Proficient in the use of technology to support work activities e.g., expertise in database extraction and ETL tools, data quality analysis, and proven ability to develop charts and graphs to summarize information for reporting purposes, etc.
• At least 3 years of increasingly responsible database or data quality experience, with emphasis on experience in IT integration projects.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a matrixed environment is preferred

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in hospital-based clinical specialty (e.g., nursing) required.
• Master’s degree in nursing informatics or a closely related field preferred.
• 3 years’ experience in electronic medical records data extraction.
