Role Overview:

We are seeking our first Director of IT to establish and lead our IT operations. This position plays a critical role in making sure our people, systems, and workflows operate smoothly every day, with a focus on IT operations and support. You’ll manage all aspects of IT operations, including end-user support, device and software lifecycle, network administration, and vendor management. Over time, you will build and lead a team to support a growing workforce and evolving business needs.

What You’ll Do

  • IT Operations & Support


    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all IT-related issues, providing hands-on support to employees.

    • Oversee device provisioning, software deployment, account setup, and access management.

    • Implement efficient ticketing and support systems to track and resolve IT requests.


  • Systems & Infrastructure Management


    • Manage day-to-day IT infrastructure, including networking, connectivity, and business applications.

    • Ensure availability and reliability of collaboration tools, communication systems, and enterprise applications.

    • Partner with engineering teams to support HPC-related workflows where IT intersects with infrastructure needs (e.g., access, storage, connectivity).


  • Process, Policy & Compliance


    • Translate security recommendations from the Director of Security Initiatives into day-to-day IT practices.

    • Develop and maintain IT procedures, documentation, and employee training.

    • Ensure compliance with internal standards for access, hardware, and data handling.


  • Vendor & Asset Management


    • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and procurement of hardware/software.

    • Track and maintain IT assets across the company.

    • Optimize licensing and costs through effective vendor negotiations.


  • Future Team Building


    • Define the roadmap for scaling IT support as the company grows.

    • Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing IT operations team.

    • Establish best practices for IT service delivery.


Who You are

  • Required Experience

    • 7+ years of IT operations experience, including hands-on support and systems management.

    • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, and enterprise applications.

    • Demonstrated ability to manage IT in technical or high-performance environments.

    • Proven success managing vendors, licenses, and IT budgets.

    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a customer-service mindset.


  • Preferred Experience

    • Experience as the first IT hire or sole IT lead in a fast-growing organization.

    • Background supporting engineering or research teams in HPC or highly technical environments.

    • Familiarity with ERP, HRIS, or other enterprise platforms.

Pay Transparency: The base salary range for this position is $210,000 - $220,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be determined by factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
