- PURPOSE OF POSITION: This position exists to provide exemplary service and software applications by designing, developing, and installing on the DESMA machine product line, focusing on integrating complex automation systems, optimizing production processes, and ensuring smooth operation by utilizing specialized programming languages and frameworks specific to primarily but not limited to rubber and/or silicone injection mold equipment.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide effective software solutions by determining operational feasibility through evaluation analysis, problem definition, solution development, and proposing solutions on all company machine product lines.
- Working independently, complete software tasks ranging from basic to complex. Such tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Create clean, efficient code to implement features and functionalities for DESMA’s injection molding machines, including control logic, data acquisition, and user interface elements.
- Integrate software with various hardware components, primarily but not limited to sensors, actuators, PLCs, and automation, to create cohesive systems within DESMA machines
- Perform thorough testing and debugging of software to ensure stability, reliability, and compliance with industry standards
- Demonstrate proficiency in languages commonly used in industrial automation, and PLC programming languages with Bachmann & B&R control systems. Advanced knowledge of injection molding processes and machine mechanics to effectively design control algorithms.
- Perform all job tasks in compliance with DESMA safety practices and /or procedures, if any, as may be required by the customer when performing tasks at a customer facility.
- Within the scope of the position, demonstrate superior knowledge of the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components of the product line and the repair/ service procedures applicable to such machinery. Maintain current skills and knowledge base current to effectively service and provide software application improvement techniques.
- The Field Software Engineer is required to have advanced computer skills necessary to complete tasks promptly.
- A strong background in Codesys, C language, or structured text is beneficial for this position
- A strong background in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical interface is a must
- CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPECTATIONS:
- Practice clear, consistent, and concise communication with customers, fellow associates, and supervisors, including pre-call communication and post-call follow-up.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required. This individual represents the company in the field. Neat and professional presentation, effective communication, conflict resolution, and working well with others are critical.
- The position requires an individual to be a self-starter to interface with customers and apply analytical thinking and problem-solving to the daily tasks.
- EMPLOYEE EXPECTATIONS:
- In certain instances, the Field Software Engineer may be assigned responsibilities mentoring other Field Service Technicians & Field Software Engineers in training with DESMA USA; however, the position does not have direct reports.
- The position requires effective interaction and teamwork involving other service, manufacturing, engineering, and sales associates within DESMA. Effective interaction is also required with representatives/associates of the customer's organization.
- Traveling to customers is required 50% of the time.
- International travel on occasion is required with our parent factory for training in Germany. Field Software Engineers are required to have a passport.
- 10+ years of experience in the software industry would be highly beneficial to this position
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
