Job Title: Systems Engineer IV
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid – Onsite 2–3 days per week)
Pay Rate: $92 per hour
Schedule: Full-time, 8-hour day shift, Monday–Friday

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Systems Engineer IV to provide advanced systems engineering support for the IT department. This role focuses on designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise and cloud-based infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on AWS environments. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with internal engineering and operations teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable systems.

Scope of Work

• Collaborate with internal teams to architect, engineer, configure, and deploy AWS and other infrastructure technologies using approved organizational tools and standards
• Partner closely with System Operations to develop self-service infrastructure provisioning, delivery pipelines, logging, and monitoring services
• Install and support applications and servers, including both physical and virtual environments
• Monitor, troubleshoot, remediate, and continuously improve infrastructure performance and reliability
• Operate and maintain monitoring, alerting, backup, antivirus, anti-spam, malware protection, offsite storage, and data mirroring solutions
• Update and maintain system and infrastructure documentation as required

Required Qualifications and Experience

• 10+ years of total professional experience in systems engineering, systems administration, or a closely related field
• 7–10 years of directly related systems engineering experience
• 3–5 years of operational experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments
• 5+ years of hands-on Unix/Linux experience, including installation, administration, operations, and maintenance
• 5+ years of scripting experience using Shell, Perl, and/or Python
• 5+ years of experience in enterprise systems administration and engineering environments
• 5+ years of experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, including services such as ECS, EC2, API Gateway, S3, and Lambda
• Strong understanding of AWS architecture and services
• Proficiency with AWS Command Line Interface
• Strong understanding of Unix/Linux security tools and standard utilities
• Advanced knowledge of ports, protocols, routing, switching, and firewall-based wide-area networks
• Experience managing public cloud infrastructure environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with RHEL Satellite Server
• Experience with Puppet
• Experience with Atlassian suite of products

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Relevant work experience of eight (8) or more years may be considered in lieu of a degree

Licenses and Certifications

• AWS Certification preferred

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $92.00 per hour
