Onward Search is a specialized staffing and talent solutions company that helps professionals find top jobs with the nation’s leading brands. We’re hiring a Senior UX / UI Engineer for a remote, full-time direct hire opportunity.

In this role, you’ll join the Product Development team to help build and evolve a platform that empowers people to bring creative projects to life. You’ll work with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, data analysts, and community specialists using iterative, data-driven, and outcome-oriented approaches to deliver valuable, maintainable, and user-centered solutions.

You’ll develop with modern frameworks and tools such as Ruby on Rails, React, Atomic CSS, Redux, Apollo, and TypeScript, supported by a GraphQL API.

Senior UX / UI Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers, product designers, and product managers to deliver high-quality, accessible, and maintainable software.

  • Identify opportunities for technical projects and process improvements, including maintaining and evolving the design system.

  • Write performant, production-ready, and well-tested front-end software aligned with product, design, and operational standards.

  • Break down large, complex projects into actionable tasks, estimate scope, and guide execution to ensure timely delivery.

  • Participate in group code reviews to uphold a high standard of quality across the codebase.

  • Mentor and pair with junior engineers, offering constructive feedback and fostering professional growth.

Senior UX / UI Engineer Qualifications:

  • Proven experience writing production-ready, performant, and well-tested software.

  • Expertise in front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with proficiency in TypeScript.

  • Strong background in accessibility and in building reusable front-end components and design systems.

  • Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, core technologies such as Ruby on Rails, React, MySQL, and GraphQL.

  • Ability to decompose large, complex, or ambiguous challenges into clear, actionable work items.

  • Comfort working across a spectrum of responsibilities—from hands-on coding to higher-level planning and cross-team collaboration.

  • Enthusiasm for contributing both within individual teams and across teams, always seeking the greatest impact.
