Job description
A DevOps Software Engineer job is currently available at Belcan in St. Louis, Missouri. This is a full-time, direct job with full benefits including eligible for overtime pay. The selected candidate will have active security clearance and experience working software DevOps activities and have an Engineering or Computer Science degree. Job Duties:
o Champion creative and forward-thinking solutions to complex engineering challenges.
o Mentor and inspire cross-functional teams to adopt modern software architectures and development practices.
o Facilitate agile ceremonies and promote continuous improvement in team performance and delivery.
o Support backlog grooming, sprint planning, and release coordination for cloud-based applications.
o Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Jenkins, or similar tools to support rapid and reliable software delivery.
o Extensive Hands-On experience with Docker, Docker-Compose, Kubernetes, Helm, and image management.
o Strong background in scripting (bash, powershell, etc).
o Ensure infrastructure automation, observability, and compliance with industry best practices.
o Integrate containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes into cloud environments.
o Ensure software meets performance, reliability, and maintainability standards.
o Communicate architectural decisions, risks, and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
o Partner with security, operations, and QA teams to ensure end-to-end system integrity.

o Strong background in scripting (bash, powershell, etc).

- Software Development & Integration
o Integrate containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes into cloud environments.
o Ensure software meets performance, reliability, and maintainability standards.
- Collaboration & Communication
o Communicate architectural decisions, risks, and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
o Partner with security, operations, and QA teams to ensure end-to-end system integrity.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in software architecture, with a focus on cloud-based solutions and DevOps practices
- 5+ years of experience with training and work experience in CI/CD pipeline automation, preferably supporting cloud native development
- 5+ years of experience in automated provisioning and configuring of software-defined infrastructure and designing for continuous deployment and continuous operations
- 3+ years of experience Proven experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- 3+ years of experience with Terraform, Ansible, or similar system automation/deployment tools.
- 5+ years of experience understanding of CI/CD tools (e.g., Gitlab, Jenkins) and practices, automation frameworks, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
- 7+ years" experience with C++, C#, Java, or Python
- 5+ years" experience with Agile Software Development
- Due to the nature of the work performed, US Citizenship is a requirement
- Must have ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE to be considered for this opportunity!
Direct Experience
- Have supported a cloud migration initiative establishing Jira schemas and structures to support large scale migration of over triple digit numbers of concurrent users
- Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architectures.
- Familiarity with serverless computing (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, PowerShell, or Go for automation tasks.
- Experience with real-time systems, event-driven architectures, or microservices.
- Hands-on experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
- Knowledge of observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Datadog).
- Experience with policy-as-code and compliance automation (e.g., Open Policy Agent, HashiCorp Sentinel).
- Understanding of DevSecOps practices and secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC).
- Experience implementing identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and secure networking in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP).
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.
- Experience working in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or other enterprise agile models.
- Strong communication skills for technical storytelling, stakeholder alignment, and architectural documentation.
- Experience with artifact repositories (e.g., Artifactory, Nexus).
- Familiarity with feature flagging, canary deployments, and blue/green deployments.
- Exposure to AI/ML pipelines or data engineering workflows in cloud environments.
