Altus Fire & Life Safety is a full-service fire and life safety services platform. We offer a complete suite of solutions, from the design, engineering, installation, and servicing of state-of-the-art fire and life safety systems to training, consulting, crisis management and business continuity services.

Altus d/b/a Cross Fire, located in Astoria, NY is looking for a Sales Engineer to join our team! In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for generating and closing service-based sales opportunities, including system inspections, repairs, contract renewals, and deficiency corrections.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue new construction and retrofit projects with fire alarm, security, or integrated systems. Analyze bid specifications to determine alignment with Cross Fire’s service capabilities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining relationships with electrical/general contractors, engineers, architects, and key stakeholders.
  • Interpret technical documentation, including bid documents, drawings, and programming guides, and relay critical information to internal teams.
  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan, using a variety of selling techniques (e.g., consultative, solution-based, and value-driven selling) to penetrate accounts and close opportunities.
  • Manage CRM and ERP systems effectively to track contacts, opportunities, and revenue forecasts. Maintain accurate and up-to-date pipeline data, including estimated close dates and probability assessments.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience, preferably in commercial construction or fire/life safety services
  • Proven track record of building a client base and driving business through lead generation, relationship management, and strategic selling
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in identifying and closing new business opportunities
  • Established network within architecture, design, real estate, or construction industries
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead client meetings and navigate complex sales cycles
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and professional in both appearance and conduct
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
