Job description
Sales Engineer / Solutions Architect
Summary
Sedona Technologies is seeking a Cybersecurity Solutions Architect to drive customer value, retention, and growth for the Sedona Safeguard platform. This role is primarily technical account management and customer value delivery through QBRs and IT gap analysis, with additional responsibilities in sales engineering support and enabling our Unified Data Platform reporting. You will serve as a trusted advisor to IT leaders including IT Managers, IT Directors, CIOs, CISOs, and CTOs. The right candidate has strong cybersecurity depth including MDR and EDR, can identify gaps quickly, and can confidently articulate solutions in a way that builds trust and drives adoption and expansion. Long-term, this position could grow into increased leadership responsibility as the platform expands. Initially, the focus is on owning customer-facing technical account management, leading QBR/MBR technical discussions, and supporting sales architecture for Sedona Safeguard.
This role requires someone with strong cybersecurity expertise (including MDR, EDR, ZTNA, identity, and cloud security), exceptional communication skills, and the ability to identify IT gaps quickly and credibly. The ideal candidate is strong enough technically to earn the respect of IT teams, yet skilled enough in sales to influence decision-makers and close deals.
Long-term, this position could grow into the Head of Sedona Safeguard, overseeing multiple managers within the team as the platform expands. Initially, however, the role will be focused on hands-on sales engineering, architecture, client-facing cybersecurity consulting, and building growth momentum for Sedona Safeguard.
Core Responsibilities
Sales Architecture & Growth
- Serve as the primary sales architect for Sedona Safeguard.
- This role is expected to be approximately 70% technical account management (QBR/MBR leadership, client gap identification, platform-driven reporting and value) and 30% sales engineering support and growth enablement.
- Lead technical sales calls with IT leadership and executives.
- Present Sedona Safeguard’s differentiators vs. competitors (MDR, EDR, ZTNA, identity controls, email/cloud security, compliance, etc.).
- Build sales strategies and contribute to deal shaping, pricing, and solution packaging.
- Drive platform growth through net-new sales, renewals with added value, and IT gap identification.
IT Gap Analysis & Cybersecurity Expertise
- Conduct deep cybersecurity and IT posture evaluations during QBRs/MBRs.
- Identify weaknesses in MDR/EDR coverage, identity security, network security, cloud posture, endpoint hygiene, and compliance controls.
- Translate technical findings into clear business risk narratives for C-level decision-makers.
- Recommend the correct Sedona Safeguard components to resolve those gaps.
Sedona IT Solutions Unified Data Platform
- Become the primary owner, administrator, presenter, and configurator of the Sedona IT Solutions Unified Data Platform for client reporting, QBR insights, and value demonstration.
- Leverage dashboards to tell a compelling security story to clients.
- Improve reporting and analytics to show ROI, reductions in risk, and operational improvements.
- Use platform insights to identify upsell opportunities and maintain clear client value.
Training, Enablement & Content Creation
- Build demo environments, training material, and technical sales collateral.
- Conduct one-on-one training, webinars, and recorded sessions for clients and internal teams.
- Maintain a content repository for the Sedona Safeguard platform.
Strategic Leadership Potential
- Work closely with three existing Safeguard managers to unify direction, messaging, and processes.
- Provide feedback to leadership on tools to add, replace, or retire within the platform.
- Demonstrate leadership traits that could lead to taking over as Head of Sedona Safeguard as the division scales from 3 managers to 10+ roles.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of MDR, EDR, and threat detection technologies (required).
- Experience in cybersecurity architecture, endpoint security, identity management, and cloud security.
- Experience working with IT leaders and navigating complex technical conversations.
- Ability to present technical solutions to non-technical executives in a compelling, business-oriented way.
- Prior experience conducting QBRs/MBRs or delivering IT security assessments.
- Strong ability to identify IT gaps and translate them into solution proposals.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in an MSP/MSSP environment preferred.
Ideal Candidate Traits
- Confident speaking directly with CIOs/CISOs, not intimidated.
- Strong sales instincts but not “salesy.”
- Senior-level cybersecurity understanding—doesn’t need hand-holding.
- Analytical and detail-oriented.
- Leadership potential with humility and team-first mentality.
- Capable of eventually overseeing multiple managers and growing a practice.
Compensation
- Base salary plus commission tied to gross margin performance and customer growth. Commission is structured so strong performers can meaningfully exceed base over time. A potential future performance bonus may be tied to platform adoption, retention, and Safeguard growth.
- Travel is limited. Most client meetings are virtual. This role typically attends industry events and trade shows approximately four times per year, with occasional onsite visits as needed.
