Position Title: Operational Risk Testing Analyst (HR Risk)
Location: Tysons, VA (Hybrid)

Position Status: Contract to Hire
Pay Rate: $40 - $45 per hour
Position Description:
We’re seeking a highly analytical Operational Risk Testing Analyst to support control testing and risk management within the HR function. In this role, you’ll execute structured control tests, evaluate design and operational effectiveness, and help drive continuous improvement in HR risk controls and compliance processes.
This position is ideal for professionals with a strong foundation in risk assessment, control testing, and operational compliance, especially within HR or financial services environments. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with HR, audit, and compliance teams to ensure the organization maintains a robust risk control framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform control testing activities for HR processes based on established testing scripts and timelines.
- Review and validate control evidence to assess design and operating effectiveness against defined criteria.
- Document and report test results accurately, ensuring clear communication of findings to internal stakeholders.
- Support operational risk issue management through documentation, root cause analysis, action planning, and remediation tracking.
- Partner with HR process owners, risk partners, and audit/compliance teams to ensure comprehensive risk coverage.
- Identify opportunities to enhance testing methodologies and strengthen overall risk and control processes.
Required Skills & Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Audit, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in operational risk, audit, compliance, or control testing.
- Strong knowledge of RCSA (Risk and Control Self-Assessment) methodology and control testing best practices.
- Experience managing the issue lifecycle—from identification and remediation through tracking and closure.
- Exceptional attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other analytical or GRC tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with HR operational processes and associated risks (e.g., hiring, onboarding, compensation, employee relations).
- Experience using GRC systems such as Archer or MetricStream.
- Understanding of HR-related regulatory requirements (e.g., EEOC, FMLA, SOX).
- Prior experience in an HR risk, compliance, or audit function.
