Overview
Evolve Engineering and Software is looking to hire an Experienced CNC Mastercam Programmer w 5th axis programming skills. We have gotten our first 5th axis machine with another on the way and we believe that our current CAM language is not the right fit for doing 5th axis jobs. As a CAM programmer here, you will come in and hit the ground running with getting Mastercam setup for the company and then get into programming for the 5th axis. You will also help our current CAM team come up to speed in Mastercam by sharing your skills with the rest of the team. At the same time as doing this, we will teach you Solidcam, which is our current CAM software. Eventually we will go away from Solidcam, but this is a bit of a transition. Your mastery of Mastercam software, combined with your proficiency in 5th Axis machining, will drive efficiency and excellence in our production processes. We are looking for a motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to cutting-edge manufacturing projects.

This position is full-time, Monday – Friday. Our hours are flexible as long as you’re here during core hours, 10am – 3pm. Our pay structure is dependent on your experience level. More experienced = higher starting pay rate. Our pay range for this position is $25 - $45/hr. We are a growing engineering, software, and machining company, so experience in mechanical engineering, software engineering, etc is a plus and will be compensated thusly. When the shop is running well with minimal part waste.

Duties

  • Develop and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam for multi-axis machining centers, including 5th Axis capabilities, ensuring high accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to interpret blueprints, schematics, GD&T specifications, and CAD models from SolidWorks or CATIA to produce precise tooling and components.
  • Create set up documents for operators to run the 5th axis code that you program.
  • Observe machines running to ensure programmed rates are as expected.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments such as bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify parts that you program comes out good.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity within the machining process.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, inspection reports, and process improvements for continuous quality assurance.
  • Strive to produce extremely precise parts for our customers with minimal waste

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Mastercam Programmer with strong proficiency in 5th Axis machining techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; familiarity with Fanuc controls is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and schematic interpretation for complex parts manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC milling machines and CNC lathes; familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a plus.
  • Skilled in CAD/CAM software for designing and modifying parts.
  • Mechanical knowledge of tooling setups, geometry calculations, and precision measurement instruments like bore gauges and micrometers.
