About Us

My name is Stein Retzlaff, Founder & CEO of LINX. I've spent the last 10+ years working deep in the adventure travel market – working with operators on all 7 continents to open new experiences around the world. My production company has filmed more people skiing in Antarctica than anyone on the planet, among many other highlights.

Our founding team of LINX has organized and led 500+ global adventure experiences . We've worked with operators on yachts, expedition ships, remote lodges, and sailing vessels in places most people only see in documentaries. We know this industry from the inside — the problems, the relationships, and the opportunity.

We're building the infrastructure for adventure travel — a platform that connects world-class operators with discerning travelers.

This is a platform built by the leaders of the travel industry. Pre-seed startup. Backed by industry veterans.

About the Role

We are looking for a founding engineer — the first technical engineering hire on our team. We have a working prototype that proves the concept. You'll own the technical direction — whether that means building on what exists or making the call to rebuild parts properly. Your architectural decisions will shape the product.

We're looking for someone who thrives with ownership and is solution-oriented. Someone who can take a product vision, break it down into technical problems, and ship solutions that users love. You'll work directly with the founders, move fast, and see your code in production immediately.

What You'll Do

  • Build and own the full stack — React frontend, API layer, PostgreSQL database, AWS infrastructure
  • Design and implement core systems for a multi-sided marketplace
  • Make architectural decisions that balance speed-to-ship with long-term scalability
  • Ship features weekly, iterate based on real user feedback and metrics
  • Collaborate directly with founders on product direction and technical tradeoffs
  • Set the technical culture — code standards, review practices, deployment workflows
  • Eventually help hire and mentor additional engineers as we grow

Our Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React Native
  • Backend: Java / Kotlin / Ruby
  • Database: PostgreSQL (current)
  • Infrastructure: AWS (EC2, S3, CloudFront)
  • Version Control: GitHub

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Professional of React Native, JavaScript
  • Solid experience with relational databases
  • Expert of AWS or similar cloud infrastructure
  • Track record of shipping products (we want to see things you've built)
  • Ability to work autonomously without constant direction
  • Strong written communication
  • Hybrid role to start, but opening an office on the West Coast (SF, LA, Seattle, Tahoe, Reno)

Nice to Have

  • Experience building multi-sided marketplaces or platforms
  • Payment systems integration
  • Travel, hospitality, or luxury consumer experience
  • Experience as an early engineer at a startup (employee #1-10)
  • DevOps / infrastructure experience
