Job Overview
We are seeking 2 positions, an entry level system administrator and a mid-level Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidates will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust infrastructure solutions that support our customer's technology needs. This role requires a strong understanding of on-premise virtualization and cloud services, DevOps practices, and system architecture to ensure high availability and performance of our systems. The entry level system administrator with spend 50-100% of their time OCONUS supporting customer networks and systems.
Responsibilities
System Administrator:
- Manage standalone Linux systems in a STIG-compliant environment, ensuring secure integration with Active Directory for user authentication and access control.
- Maintain user accounts, certificates, and permissions using Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Perform routine updates, package management (apt/yum), and security patching on Linux systems.
- Monitor hardware and system health using tools such as Nagios or Zabbix, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of system backups, recovery procedures, and compliance with security baselines.
Infrastructure Engineer:
- Design and deploy a robust virtualization cluster, including hypervisor installation and configuration, hardware management, and VM lifecycle operations.
- Ensure compliance with STIG guidelines across virtualization clusters and underlying systems.
- Automate provisioning and configuration tasks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible and Terraform.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and implement system upgrades, patches, and performance optimizations.
- Manage applications running within VMs, ensuring high availability and seamless integration with on-premises Active Directory.
- Conduct regular system audits to maintain compliance with security and performance standards.
Qualifications
System Administrator Experience
- Minimum BS in related field OR 3 years proven experience in system administration.
- Solid foundation in Linux operating system administration, including managing users, file systems, and permissions.
- Experience with software installation, package management (apt, yum), and basic shell scripting for automation tasks.
- Knowledge of system monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix), basic networking concepts (IPTables, DNS), and backup and recovery procedures.
- Basic experience in Active Directory for user and group management, including account creation, password resets, and handling account lockouts.
- Familiarity with Group Policy (GPO) for setting user and computer configurations within an AD environment.
- Knowledge of certificate management for securing communication, basic troubleshooting of authentication issues, and ensuring smooth directory operations.
Infrastructure Engineer Experience
- Minimum BS in related field AND 3 years proven experience in infrastructure engineering or related field. (Additional experience may be substituted for a degree)
- Strong knowledge of cloud/hypervisor technologies, specifically AWS and XenServer.
- Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and tools, including GitlabCI for CI/CD processes.
- Proficiency in Linux server management and shell scripting for automation tasks.
- Experience automating infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing network architectures, including LAN, WAN, and cloud-based networks.
- Proficiency in designing and maintaining metadata storage systems, including experience with distributed databases like Cassandra or MongoDB.
