MINIMUM MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS

1) Have a completed Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical degree with demonstrated relevant academic focus

-AND-

2) At least one year of professional experience with the following:

- Using DevOps methods (Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery) and tools (Jenkins, Docker)
- Using CM principles, tools and techniques on complex software projects
- Developing on or serving as a system administrator for Linux systems
- Knowledge of scripting languages and methods to automate processes is required
- Experience with the creation and deployment of Linux and/or Windows system images
- Past experience with, and demonstrate the skills and capabilities to successfully execute the duties and responsibilities of this position

-AND-

3) US Citizenship without dual citizenship, and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

DESCRIPTION

DAS has an immediate opening for a DevOps Engineer supporting various Naval Combat Training Systems for our customer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock, MD. You will be part of a talented team in a constant learning environment, on a long running program, performing work that has a major positive impact for our sailors and warfighters.

The DevOps engineer will serve as an integral part of a development team that is focused on building and maintaining a state-of-the-art Simulation Systems for our US Navy customers. The primary duty will be to administer DevOps and Configuration Management (CM) practices, tools and techniques for the use by the team, to increase our ability to deliver trainers more quickly and with improved quality. This candidate will work with our development and management teams to demonstrate the effectiveness and value of modern DevOps and CM to our Navy customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Configure and maintain environments in Linux (RHEL and CentOS)
  • Support Atlassian Software product (Confluence and Jira) environments.
  • Deploy and build software using Jenkins, Nexus, Bitbucket, git, and gitlab.
  • Configure, deploy and maintain containerized systems using Kubernetes, Docker, and Podman/Buildah
  • Write and maintain scrips in Bash, Perl and/or Python
  • Troubleshoot build issues, script failures, network and system errors
  • Document processes and procedures

DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Certifications in DevOps, RHCE, QA and/or Atlassian.
  • Served as the CM Tool designer and administrator for a development team.
  • Served as the Build Engineer, Release Engineer, or Product Installer for a development team.
  • Experience with Atlassian Software Development and Collaboration products (Jira, Confluence, Portfolio)
  • Developed tests and testing strategies with Jenkins or Google Test.
  • Certifications of Security+, Linux+, Network+, or CCNA.
  • DevOps experience in a secure environment.

SALARY NOTES
The salary range provided covers multiple experience levels. Salaries offered will be commensurate with the candidate's level of experience and breadth of capability.

JOB LOCATION

  • Successful candidates will start on-site at the NSWC in Carderock, MD.
  • Depending on team workload, employee work location may be moved to our McLean, VA corporate facility
  • Regardless of primary location, there may be occasions when employees will temporarily work at the alternate location

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
