Job description

Overview: RuggieroIP is an Intellectual Property (IP) law firm that specializes in protecting our client’s intellectual property assets including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.

The Company utilizes a relational database management system (DBMS) in the form of an all-in-one software system, which includes data records that have an impact on all aspects of our business including, but not limited to, legal deadlines, paperless legal work, billing, and accounting.

Our database resides in an off-the-shelf cloud-based SQL software platform, presently PerfectLaw. This position is responsible for inputting, managing, maintaining, and editing database records, as well as troubleshooting issues and interfacing with the database software vendor and the company’s IT provider.

The accurate entry and editing of the database records are vital components of this position. The records include new or revised: client records, matter records, deadline records, address records, deadline rules, and others.

The position requires a desire to learn aspects of patent and trademark law as they relate to the database records for deadlines and due dates, which is referred to in the legal industry as “docketing”.

Location: Hybrid work environment that requires on site work in Stamford, CT for at least three days per week.

Reporting structure: This role reports to the Administrative Services Manager.

Critical duties and Responsibilities:

· Responsible for inputting/editing client records, matter records, address records, deadline records, and other database records, as well as collaborating with the back-office staff, outside IT and software vendors, attorneys, paralegals, and clients for such inputting/editing tasks.

· Responsible for reviewing communications, both internal and external, for information and then inputting/editing database records based on these communications.

· Responsible for compiling, communicating, analyzing, and editing the deadline records on a daily basis. This includes confirming and removing deadline records when actions have been completed.

· Prepare and communicate client portfolio and/or financial reports.

· Support client and business special projects as requested.

Qualifications

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science and up to 3 years of professional experience in database operation and management.

· Attention to detail: A proven track record of accurate data entry and maintenance are required.

· Database management systems (DBMS) experience: Proficiency in relational database management systems, such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL.

· Problem-solving skills: Troubleshooting database issues and finding solutions to problems.

· Analytical skills: Analyzing data usage patterns to identify optimization opportunities.

· Communication skills: Effectively communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical clients and company personnel.

· Organizational skills: The ability to multi-task and work independently to effectively manage deadlines.

· Desired: Knowledge of SQL queries for data manipulation, retrieval, and analysis.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
