Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and user-focused UX Designer to support digital platforms and applications serving the Executive Office of the President (EOP). This role focuses on creating intuitive, accessible, and compliant user experiences for high-visibility, mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate understands usability, accessibility, and design standards within regulated or government environments and is eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Level 4 clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design user-centered experiences for web-based applications and platforms
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and stakeholder interviews
- Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups
- Translate complex requirements into clear, intuitive user experiences
- Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders
- Ensure designs comply with Section 508 / WCAG accessibility standards
- Maintain and contribute to design systems and style guides
- Iterate designs based on feedback, analytics, and usability findings
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrated experience in UX/UI design for web applications
- Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar
- Understanding of responsive and mobile-first design principles
- Knowledge of usability best practices and accessibility standards
- Ability to clearly communicate design decisions and rationale
Security & Eligibility Requirements (Mandatory)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be able to pass and maintain a Public Trust Level 4 background investigation, including:
- Credit history check
- Criminal background check
- Drug screening
- Eligibility to work on Executive Office of the President (EOP)–related systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal government or highly regulated environments
- Familiarity with Section 508 compliance and usability testing tools
- Experience working with developers in Agile or Scrum environments
- Understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript)
- Local to Washington, DC (strongly preferred)
