We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Software Team and play a crucial role in delivering safe, reliable, compliant, and performant software for our suite of Flow Imaging Microscopes.
The Software Engineer participates in the full software lifecycle process. Projects assigned will include developing software, finding and fixing bugs in existing software, participating in design and code reviews, developing test scripts, and executing verification tests on newly developed or updated software.
The ideal candidate will have high attention to detail, with a drive to deliver high quality, maintainable software.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Participate in all phases of product development from requirements definition to product release and maintenance in collaboration with scientists and instrumentation engineers
- Collaborate with the development team to ensure that products are designed and created with the highest quality standards
- Generate design and code documentation for new and existing code to ensure quality and maintainability of software
- Identify, isolate, and resolve instrument and software failures
- Perform code reviews for colleagues, ensuring compliance with best practices
- Provide support to manufacturing and customer support staff
Experience and Technical Requirements:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, tools and processes
- Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Programming principles
- 2+ years experience with C++
- 2+ years experience working with relational databases - MySQL/MariaDB preferred
- 1+ years experience with GUI development - Qt preferred
- Familiarity with the use of debuggers
- Familiarity with Git, pull requests and code reviews
- Familiarity with signal processing, image processing, or embedded systems a plus
- Experience working with Jira or similar issue management systems
- Experience with performance and/or security testing a plus
- Laboratory experience a plus
Education Level:
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent work experience
Physical Requirements (heavy lifting, ability to work in a laboratory, etc.):
This position involves working in and moving around an office environment, lab and assembly production environment. It involves extensive use of a computer. This role involves constant communication with employees, vendors, contractors, and business stakeholders. On occasion, work outside of regular business hours may be required.
