Job Description:

Explore Digital is seeking a highly motivated Part-Time Front-End Web Developer with a minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience. This experience should include building responsive e-commerce and lead generation website and page templates from mockups provided by a design team, website testing and QA in collaboration with a design team and developer peers, building on platforms like WordPress, Shopify, Hubspot, Wix, and more, as well as utilizing tools and plugins like Gravity Forms, WooCommerce and beyond – preferably in a fast-paced agency setting.

The best person for this role not only possesses outstanding web development skills but also demonstrates a sharp eye for detail and high-end design aesthetics. In addition, the ideal candidate will be highly enterprising in their website development processes, skilled at finding resources to ensure certain functionalities work (such as conditional logic and CSS animations).

The Part-Time Web Developer at Explore Digital will also stay up to date on relevant development tools and trends, collaborating with superiors and peers over new ideas and introducing them to the team. Strong communication and critical thinking skills are a must.

Position Details:

  • This is a part-time position, initially offering approximately 20-30 hours per week.
  • The role is remote, providing flexibility in work location but requiring availability between the hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm PT.
  • There is potential for the position to transition to full-time based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications:

  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Web Development) is preferred, but not required. Equivalent experience and relevant certifications are also highly valued.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in web development building fully responsive websites in Wordpress, Shopify, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced agency environment is preferred.
  • Basic SEO knowledge and proficiency in CSS, Javascript (Jquery), and PHP, as well as dev tools like WordPress (Divi, Elementor, Gravity Forms, WooCommerce), Shopify, Wix, HubSpot, and Squarespace.
  • Sharp attention to detail and ability to accurately match designs with mockups.
  • First-rate responsiveness and communication skills, capable of simplifying technical jargon for non-technical individuals.
  • Highly adaptable and known to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with QA processes and collaborating with designers to ensure dev implementation meets quality standards.

Responsibilities:

Website Design Implementation:

  • Build websites on platforms like WordPress or Shopify based on designer-provided mockups, ensuring clean code/build structures, interactive elements, and functionality.

Comprehensive Development:

  • Must exhibit proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and be able to navigate Figma and use dev mode effectively.

Analytical Review:

  • Conduct a review of designs upon client approval, see the whole picture to build with the user in mind, and speak up early to identify any areas of concern.

UI Component Development:

  • Draw from experience to build custom UI components such as navigation menus, dynamic forms, sliders, and other interactive elements.

Responsive and Cross-Browser Compatibility:

  • Test and troubleshoot to ensure websites are responsive across all devices/screen sizes, integrating media queries and flexible layouts for consistent user experience.

Accessibility Standards:

  • Build websites to meet minimum web accessibility standards (WCAG), using appropriate accessibility plugins and running ADA tests.

Performance Optimization:

  • Optimize website performance to effectively minimize load times, reduce resource consumption, and maintain clean code.

Quality Assurance and Testing:

  • Thoroughly QA personal and peer work for design/function/content errors, browser compatibility, and performance, collaborating in a QA workflow using bug tracking tools.

Troubleshooting and Client Support:

  • Manage and troubleshoot client tickets via a ticketing system and take initiative to resolve site issues, provide updates, and answer questions.

Communication and Documentation:

  • Effectively and efficiently communicate with direct manager, peers, and all internal departments, documenting task progress and status using platforms like ClickUp.
