POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Technology Director Department: Operations

Work Year: 260 Day Calendar

HOURS: Monday through Friday 8 AM to 4 PM

SALARY: $95,000 to $105,000

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Technology Director performs activities associated with managing and maintaining all aspects of TCA computer systems and networks, and interfaces with ASD20 for district provided services. The Technology Director provides the hardware, software, support services, and maintenance of computers and domain services at all TCA campuses (Central, East, and North), in fully functional operating condition.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervises Technology Support Specialists, A\V Schools Resource Tech, and Copy Center Operator/Lead Operator, and assumes accountability and responsibility for all job functions listed in subordinate job descriptions
  • Oversees the strategic direction, implementation, and management of Microsoft 365 (M365) operations within the organization and ensures efficient operation of computer hardware and software, systems security, and client-server support and services
  • Serves as the TCA Information Technology (IT) point of contact and liaison with ASD 20 to maintain Student Information Systems and data transfers between TCA and the district
  • Serves as the TCA Information Technology (IT) point of contact and liaison with external vendors to ensure proper licensing, configuration and support of IT infrastructure and essential systems
  • Provides strategic life-cycle management of the IT budgeting, equipping, inventory accounting, and replacement processes
  • Performs quarterly reviews and updates to provide for general maintenance, staff training, and hardware purchases
  • Develops, provides, and implements IT policy and procedural guidance to the TCA community
  • Manages and maintains all staff, faculty, and student Network User Agreement forms
  • Coordinates with ASD20 for network and policy changes to ensure effective systems performance
  • Oversees inventory records and accomplishes file system backups at designated periodic intervals
  • Completes and maintains documentation for network performance and support services
  • Works collaboratively with ASD20 and TCA Human Resources staff to create and maintain user accounts for - Active Directory, EntraID, email, distribution lists, and both in-house and online applications, for staff and students
  • Assists school administrators with student information system issues to include activities to install, update versions, maintain, and troubleshoot
  • Responsible for the purchasing and installation of all technology related hardware and software for the school as well as licensing compliance
  • Directs the installation of technology resources into classrooms and assists school personnel to maximize technology in school operation
  • Manages the distribution of software and software updates to staff and faculty. Arranges for the repair of computer hardware and peripherals, as applicable
  • On-call for network system maintenance and performs "Help-Desk" services for network issues
  • Responsible for the oversight, management, and coordination of the delivery of staff training on hardware and software
  • Provides guidance and oversight to school on matters of data privacy and student information
  • Attends on-going training and meetings as required in order to remain up to date on network policy, procedure, and performance
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Carries and responds to a mobile communication device for the purpose of conducting school related business both during and after normal business hours

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in System Administration, Computer Science, or Information Technology

EXPERIENCE:

  • Background with Network Management and M365 Administration preferred
  • Experience in computer fields/general computer technology, preferably in an educational setting
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must possess an acceptable driving record

  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work with limited supervision to resolve IT issues
  • Considerable knowledge of the variety of computer equipment/systems, hardware, software, office machines/FAX/copiers, printers, and related databases used within the TCA environment
  • Skill in operating computers, word processing, and applications
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, administrators, staff, faculty, and students
  • Exhibits caring attitude toward students

  • Work is performed in an office environment to include classrooms and computer/server room within a school setting
  • Required to work normal school hours and be responsive to network emergencies after hours or on non-scheduled workdays
