Position Overview

PCS is seeking an experienced Tier III IT Systems Engineer to lead the management and optimization of client infrastructure environments.

This position serves as both a senior technical escalation point and a hands-on engineer, responsible for designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting servers, networks, and cloud platforms across multiple clients.

The ideal candidate thrives in diverse, multi-site environments, possesses deep expertise across infrastructure disciplines, and demonstrates strong diagnostic, design, and leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Client Systems & Network Administration

  • Own the ongoing operation, optimization, and lifecycle management of client infrastructure — including servers, networks, storage, and cloud platforms.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server (2016–2022) environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy across multi-domain infrastructures.
  • Architect, configure, and maintain network equipment — firewalls, routers, switches, wireless controllers (Cisco, Fortinet, SonicWall, Unifi).
  • Manage VPNs, VLANs, QoS, and advanced routing for secure and performant connectivity between client sites.
  • Oversee virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V): provisioning, resource management, replication, and disaster recovery.
  • Administer file shares, permissions, drive mappings, and data access controls.
  • Implement and maintain network segmentation, VLANs, QoS, and IP address management to optimize client network performance.
  • Administer cloud services including Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Intune.
  • Implement and monitor backup and disaster recovery solutions (Datto, Veeam), ensuring data integrity and recovery readiness.
  • Troubleshoot complex network connectivity issues, packet loss, or latency using diagnostic tools (ping, traceroute, Wireshark).

Advanced Troubleshooting & Escalation

  • Act as the final escalation point for complex incidents involving cross-platform dependencies or critical infrastructure failures.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics across server, storage, network, and cloud layers — including performance bottlenecks, hardware issues, and network latency/root cause analysis using tools like Wireshark, Event Viewer, and Performance Monitor.
  • Develop and execute remediation plans that minimize downtime and ensure sustainable resolution.
  • Partner with Tier I and II teams to guide escalations, improve diagnostic skills, and enhance technical maturity.

Operational Excellence & Project Collaboration

  • Collaborate with vCIOs and Project Engineers on infrastructure initiatives such as migrations, upgrades, and security hardening.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation and contribute to standardized best practices and knowledge base content.
  • Proactively monitor and maintain systems using ConnectWise Manage & Automate, ensuring reliable performance, patch compliance, and security posture.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and modernization within client environments.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 2+ years in a senior or escalation role within an MSP or multi-client environment.
  • Expert-level knowledge of:
  • Windows Server (2016–2022), Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP
  • Network infrastructure: switching, routing, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and wireless
  • Microsoft 365 and Azure Administration
  • Virtualization: VMware ESXi and/or Hyper-V
  • Backup and DR solutions: Datto, Veeam
  • Proven experience troubleshooting complex, multi-layered technical issues across hybrid infrastructures.
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, MFA, endpoint protection, and identity management.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical details to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Server+
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator or Azure Administrator Associate
  • Cisco CCNA, SonicWall CSSA, or Fortinet NSE certification
  • Experience with VMware VCTA/VCP or Hyper-V certification preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
