The Tech@Lilly team is actively seeking an experienced Tableau Platform Administrator.

What You’ll Be Doing:
You will serve as the primary administrator for Lilly’s Tableau platform—driving architecture strategy, ensuring 24/7 reliability, and supporting scalable, secure analytics adoption across the enterprise. You will collaborate closely with infrastructure, data engineering, cloud, and security teams to maintain a modern, high-performance analytics ecosystem. You will also drive platform optimization, automation, and operational excellence across global Tableau environments.
How You’ll Succeed:
- Lead installation, upgrades, and large-scale deployments of Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud across Dev, QA, and Production environments.
- Architect and maintain high-availability, clustered, and failover configurations to support enterprise BI workloads.
- Plan and execute patches, version upgrades, and security updates with minimal business disruption.
- Optimize data extracts, schedules, subscriptions, VizQL performance, and resource utilization.
- Define, implement, and enforce governance for projects, data sources, workbooks, permissions, extracts, and lifecycle management.
- You will perform regular Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) that includes but not limited to certificate renewal, password rotations, security patching, qualify documents and SharePoint articles updates.
- Conduct regular audits and generate insights on platform usage, performance, refresh reliability, and capacity analytics.
- Develop automation scripts and DevOps pipelines using Tableau REST API, PowerShell, Python, and monitoring utilities to reduce manual effort.
- Implement automated inventory management, monitoring, and usage tracking across Tableau assets.
- Partner with infrastructure, networking, cloud, database, and security teams to troubleshoot complex issues and improve platform resilience.
- Support integrations across Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, and hybrid data ecosystems.
- Lead performance tuning, capacity planning, scaling strategy, and optimization initiatives.
- Mentor junior administrators, establish SOPs, and drive standard methodologies for platform operations.
- Act as the enterprise Tableau SME—guiding stakeholders, assessing risk, and communicating platform strategy.
What You Should Bring:
- Deep understanding of Tableau Server/Cloud architecture, including capacity management, HA/DR strategies, and integration patterns.
- Proven ability to optimize extract refresh, VizQL performance, and server resource distribution.
- Expertise using Tableau REST API, TabCmd, PowerShell, and automated administrative workflows.
- Advanced SQL skills for troubleshooting, data validation, and performance analysis.
- Experience administering identity and security models, including SSO, SAML, OAuth, Azure AD, or AD.
- Familiarity with cloud ecosystems (Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks) and hybrid analytics deployments.
- Experience with Git-based workflows and DevOps practices.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into platform capabilities and enhancements.
- Preferred experience administering complementary BI tools such as Power BI, Spotfire, or SAP BusinessObjects.
- Strong documentation skills for Security and CSQA compliance.
- Advanced SQL capability and proficiency with scripting tools such as PowerShell, Python, or Tableau REST API.
Basic Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED with 5 plus years of enterprise Tableau Server administration experience.
- 5 Plus years of hands-on experience with Tableau Server, Tableau Cloud, and enterprise BI administration.
- Demonstrated experience with upgrades, configuration, monitoring, and enterprise deployments.
- Experience supporting enterprise BI operations, migrations, DR planning, and governance frameworks.
- Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$64,500 - $184,800Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
