Fabric8Labs is focused on accelerating metal additive manufacturing adoption and enabling new applications with our patented Electrochemical Additive Manufacturing (ECAM) process. Since moving into our new production facility, we are rapidly expanding our team to advance and commercialize our disruptive technology.
As a Systems Administrator, you’ll be contributing to the company’s efforts to push the boundaries of ECAM technology by managing and developing our critical IT infrastructure .
This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position, and you’ll often have to wear multiple hats. This position requires strong quantitative and analytical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously. Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain on-premise and cloud infrastructure supporting additive manufacturing systems.
- Ensure reliable connectivity between design software, print farm controllers, and lab equipment.
- Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures to protect proprietary designs, IP, and manufacturing data.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and secure access for engineering, R&D, and production teams.
- Oversee backups, disaster recovery, and data retention for CAD files, process logs, and control software.
- Support hardware, software, and network needs for office and lab environments, including integration of specialized equipment.
- Document system configurations, equipment network maps, and troubleshooting workflows for lab-critical IT assets.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of system/network administration experience.
- Proficiency with Windows and Linux server environments.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar).
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, VMs, firewalls).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience supporting IT infrastructure in manufacturing or R&D lab environments.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and data management systems.
- Knowledge of IoT device integration and industrial network protocols.
- Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and monitoring.
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of compliance requirements for IP protection and data security.

- Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Routinely required to move around the facility.
- Occasionally lift up to 40 pounds or move heavier items using dollies or pallet jacks.
- May require travel (domestic and/or international) dependent on business needs, up to 10%
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
