Senior Web Engineer for a High-Volume Shopify Seller.

We're searching for a skilled and experienced coder who thrives in a collaborative environment and possesses a deep understanding of ecommerce best practices. This position is full-time, in-person. Responsibilities:
- Help develop and maintain high-performing Shopify stores and themes using Liquid, HTML, SCSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
- Build and support custom Shopify apps, extensions, and functions.
- Aid in the expansion and maintenance of our backend systems – we use NestJS, Postgres, and Python.
- Engage actively in a closely collaborative team of engineers and developers.
- Oversee the active performance of our sites and backend systems.
- Assist in optimizing conversion rates through UX/UI improvements and automated testing.
- Implement custom functionality and integrations to ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Collaborate directly with stakeholders, including designers, marketers, and product managers to bring value to our customers.
- Contribute to the planning, prioritizing, and execution of development projects using agile methodologies.
- Utilize project management software like Jira to effectively track progress and manage deliverables.
- Maintain code quality, adhere to coding standards, and best practices.
- Contribute to our code libraries and custom tools.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience with front-end development at a mid-senior level.
- Extensive experience in Shopify theme development, configuration, and app creation.
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, SCSS, Vanilla JS, jQuery, and Liquid scripting.
- Proven ability to build dynamic and responsive user interfaces.
- Familiarity with command-line tools and development workflows.
- Experience with JS frameworks and libraries (we use React).
- Backend engineering experience.
- Some familiarity with NodeJS and TypeScript.
- Solid understanding of ecommerce practices and conversion optimization techniques.
- Experience with project management tools like Jira.
- Proficiency in version control systems (we use Git).
Bonus Points:
- Proficiency with NestJS and Postgres.
- Knowledge of stack observability tooling (Datadog, Prometheus, New Relic).
- Experience working in any of the following contexts:
- Creating and maintaining APIs
- Lerna
- Advanced CSS techniques and tools including TailwindCSS, OOCSS, SMA, etc.
- Cloudflare Workers and Pages
- Python
- Rust
- MVC or similar web frameworks such as ExpressJS, Meteor, Django, or Laravel.
- SQL and relational database building
- Alternatives to React, like AlpineJS
