Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Server DBA to manage, maintain, and optimize our SQL Server environments (2016+). This role involves performance tuning, implementing HA/DR solutions, automation, security, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure database scalability and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases (2016 and newer) in production and non-production environments.
- Monitor database performance, implement tuning improvements, and proactively address potential issues.
- Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies, including high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions (e.g., Always On, Log Shipping, Replication).
- Implement and enforce database security policies, including user access controls, encryption, and auditing.
- Collaborate with application developers and infrastructure teams to optimize database design and query performance.
- Automate routine database tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, or other scripting tools.
- Perform database upgrades, patching, and migrations with minimal downtime.
- Participate in capacity planning and forecasting for database growth and resource needs.
- Maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Provide 24/7 support for critical production systems as part of an on-call rotation.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in a production environment.
- Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022).
- Strong experience with HA/DR technologies (Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, etc.).
- Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Agent.
- Solid understanding of Windows Server environments and Active Directory integration.
- Strong scripting skills (T-SQL, PowerShell).
- Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a plus.
