An Enterprise Oracle Database Engineer with specialized expertise in Oracle Exadata is responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining high-performance Oracle database systems that support business applications and operations. They ensure data integrity, security and high availability while optimizing database performance and scalability. The role involves working with Oracle Exadata and SQL Server platforms and collaborating with development, operations, and security teams to support enterprise data needs. Strong interpersonal and technical skills are required, as is the desire and ability to constantly learn new things.

Job Title: Oracle Database Engineer
Location: Englewood, CO / Phoenix, AZ (Remote)
The Role: Individual Contributor External Facing Role

Role and Responsibilities:

Lead and mentor a team of other database engineers, providing technical guidance and oversight
Design, implement and manage Oracle Exadata database systems, ensuring performance and security
Implement and maintain Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and ASM for high availability and disaster recovery
Perform database performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimization in Exadata environments
Work with Exadata Storage Server (CellCLI, Smar Scan, Flash Cache, IORM) to optimize performance
Develop and maintain PL/SQL scripts, shell scripts and automation tools for database management
Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure seamless database operations
Ensure compliance with security policies, best practices, and industry standards

Required Experience:

Oracle Database 19c/21c
Data Guard
ASM
Exadata architecture
Azure VM management
Cloud infrastructure and virtualization
Unix\Linux System Administration skills.
Experience with Excel and Visio.
Ability to work with various levels of customer and internal resources to present necessary database expertise.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to design architectural solutions for complex technology problems using available and emerging technologies.
Flexibility to shift onshore hours to cover occasional weekend\evening cutovers
Self-driven, generalist, innovative, result-oriented, motivating, leadership, and Project management skills.

Desired Experience:

QNXT / Facets Database administration experience
SQL Server management experience
Experience working in a large, complex, and highly regulated organization

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for the position is between $ 89,100– $162,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
