Job description
Senior Database Administrator
We are looking for a skilled PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance optimization of PostgreSQL databases. You will ensure the availability, reliability, and security of our database systems, working closely with developers, system administrators, and other IT professionals to support our organization's data management needs.
As a PostgreSQL Database Administrator, you will be expected to monitor database performance, implement backup and recovery strategies, and troubleshoot database issues promptly. You will also be responsible for database tuning, query optimization, and ensuring database integrity and security. Your role will involve collaborating with development teams to design and implement database schemas, indexes, and stored procedures that meet application requirements.
Responsibilities
· Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL database systems.
· Monitor database performance and optimize queries for efficiency.
· Implement and manage database backup and recovery procedures.
· Ensure database security, integrity, and availability.
· Collaborate with developers to design & implement schemas and indexes.
· Perform database upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning.
· Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly.
· Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations and procedures.
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
· Proven experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator.
· Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL database architecture and administration.
· Experience with database performance tuning and query optimization.
· Familiarity with database backup, recovery, and security best practices.
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
· Experience with Linux operating systems and scripting languages.

Primarily open-source environment (RHEL) – not purely working with PostgreSQL, there are also other open-source databases and MS SQL Servers.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $125,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
