Senior Software Engineer (Hybrid – FinTech + Cloud Native)

Location: Denver, CO (or surrounding area) — Local candidates only
Compensation: $150,000 – $200,000+ base (DOE) + bonus/equity
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or Green Card preferred

About the Role

DNS Solutions is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and scale secure, cloud-native applications powering mission-critical systems across SaaS, high-growth tech, and FinTech environments. This hybrid role blends the high-demand skills of backend engineering, microservices, and cloud architecture with optional experience in financial systems, compliance, and high-throughput transaction platforms.

Candidates must reside in Denver, CO or the surrounding metro area, as this role requires hybrid/onsite collaboration with engineering and product teams.

This posting is intentionally designed to attract the strongest engineers in the Denver market while remaining broad enough to maximize candidate volume.

Key Responsibilities Backend Development & Software Architecture

  • Design, build, and maintain highly scalable backend services using Java, Go, Python, or Node.js.
  • Develop RESTful and event-driven APIs supporting both internal and customer-facing applications.
  • Architect and optimize cloud-native microservices for reliability, availability, and performance.
  • Contribute to technical design reviews, architecture decisions, and long-term platform roadmaps.

Cloud Engineering (AWS Preferred)

  • Build, deploy, and optimize services in AWS, Azure, or GCP, with strong preference for AWS.
  • Leverage cloud-native tools and services (Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, SQS/SNS, KMS, etc.).
  • Implement secure, compliant infrastructure that meets FinTech-grade standards where required.

DevOps, Automation & CI/CD

  • Develop automated pipelines for build, test, and deployment using CI/CD tooling (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket).
  • Containerize applications using Docker and manage orchestration through Kubernetes.
  • Embed observability through logging, monitoring, tracing, and performance analytics.

Security, Compliance & Reliability

  • Apply secure coding standards in alignment with best practices and regulatory expectations (SOC2, PCI, SOX).
  • Partner with security teams to ensure compliance, data protection, and system hardening.
  • Participate in production support and on-call rotations for critical services.

Collaborative Engineering

  • Work cross-functionally with Product, CloudOps, DevSecOps, QA, and Data teams to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help drive engineering excellence across the team.
  • Contribute to engineering documentation, best practices, standards, and automation-first culture.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong backend development experience in Java, Go, Python, or Node.js.
  • Hands-on experience with microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Direct experience working with AWS, Azure, or GCP (AWS strongly preferred).
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD automation.
  • Strong competency with relational & NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB).
  • Must reside in Denver, CO or surrounding area (required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in FinTech, banking, payments, lending, insurance, trading, or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with event-driven systems and streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub).
  • Experience with secure coding, encryption, IAM, tokenization, or Zero Trust concepts.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Prior work in environments requiring compliance (SOC2, PCI, SOX, HIPAA).

Why This Hybrid Posting Works

This version:

  • Attracts general senior software engineers (largest talent pool in Denver).
  • Also appeals to high-quality FinTech engineers with secure and scalable systems experience.
  • Screens out remote candidates by requiring Denver-area residency.
  • Positions DNS Solutions as a strong technical recruiting partner in both general tech and FinTech niches.
