JOB TITLE: Senior DBA Engineer
LOCATION: Santa Clara, CA
DURATION: 6 months
RATE RANGE: $80 - $110/hr
Job Description:
We are looking for a world-class DBA to join our Software Infrastructure and Operations team. This position will be part of a fast-paced group that develops and maintains complex IAAS/PAAS build environments on platforms including MySQL, Elasticsearch, and MongoDB.
We are seeking a candidate with approximately 10+ years of experience in MySQL Database Administration to manage our build and test platforms. Responsibilities include provisioning, maintaining existing DB infrastructure, enhancements, and working through issues together with the application development and operations teams.
Responsibilities:
10+ years of experience in DBA activities
Provision MySQL instances: standalone, replication, cluster, and HA configurations
Strong exposure to cloud technologies such as OCI, MySQL Heatwave, and AWS RDS
Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
Handle backup and recovery procedures
Perform general technical troubleshooting and provide consultation to development/operations teams
Maintain database integrity across multiple instances based on policies
Production and pre-production deployment and troubleshooting support
Prepare documentation and specifications
Manage upgrades, recovery, migrations, performance tuning, etc.
Profile server resource usage, optimize and tune as necessary
Ability to write shell/Python scripts
Monitor DB infrastructure and conduct performance tuning (server-level, query optimization)
General understanding and hands-on experience with NDB Cluster, InnoDB Cluster, etc.
Collaborate with team members and stakeholders
Skills:
Strong proficiency in MySQL and Elasticsearch database management
Experience with recent versions of MySQL (5.5 9+) on-prem and cloud
Solid hands-on experience with OCI, MySQL Heatwave, AWS, etc.
Understanding of MySQL storage engines
Experience with InnoDB Cluster, HA, and replication in MySQL
Experience with DB monitoring tools such as MySQL Enterprise, Datadog, Prometheus, etc.
Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL
Strong Unix or Python shell scripting skills
Proficient in optimizing SQL statements
Knowledge of core MySQL features
Familiarity with other SQL/NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, etc.
Familiarity with configuration management tools like Chef, Ansible, etc.
Understanding of MySQL limitations and workarounds compared to other relational databases
Strong communication skills
Proficient with code versioning tools such as Git, Perforce, etc.
