We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Solutions Architect with expertise in Azure and AWS to support federal client projects, specifically with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize cloud-based solutions tailored to federal healthcare and public health needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, hands-on experience with cloud platforms, and a proven ability to work within the federal environment, adhering to compliance standards.
This is a fully remote position, but occasional travel to client sites may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable, secure, and highly available cloud solutions on Azure and AWS platforms.
- Collaborate with CDC stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective cloud architecture solutions.
- Implement cloud migration strategies, including assessment, planning, and execution of workloads to the cloud.
- Ensure solutions meet federal compliance standards such as FISMA, FedRAMP, and HIPAA where applicable.
- Optimize cloud environments for performance, cost, and security, leveraging tools like Azure Monitor, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, and other monitoring platforms.
- Lead technical discussions, provide guidance, and act as a subject matter expert on cloud architecture for CDC projects.
- Develop detailed documentation, including architectural diagrams, best practices, and operational procedures.
- Stay up to date on emerging cloud technologies and trends to recommend innovative solutions to clients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 8-12 years of experience in IT, with at least 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing cloud solutions on Azure and AWS.
- Proven experience working with federal clients, preferably with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or within the public health sector.
- Strong knowledge of cloud architecture best practices, microservices, and DevOps methodologies.
- In-depth understanding of federal compliance frameworks such as FISMA, FedRAMP, and HIPAA.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Expertise in cloud networking, including VPCs, subnets, VPNs, and load balancers.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert are required.
Additional Skills
- Knowledge of federal healthcare systems and data standards is a plus.
- Familiarity with CDC data platforms and systems is highly desirable.
- Strong project management and leadership skills, with the ability to guide cross-functional teams.
- Experience integrating CI/CD pipelines in cloud environments.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
