Role Summary
The System Administrator III is an exempt, senior IT role responsible for managing critical IT infrastructure, providing advanced technical support, and acting as the final point of escalation for technical issues. This position focuses on ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of IT systems while also contributing to IT strategy development and mentoring junior team members. By staying current on emerging technologies and proactively addressing potential issues, this role plays a pivotal part in driving organizational success.
This position is based in Tupelo, MS and will regularly work in the Oxford, MS area as well.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support and Issue Resolution
- Serve as the point of escalation for complex technical issues across all IT systems and networks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to servers, storage, and virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Provide high-level technical support for diverse users and applications, ensuring seamless operation of IT systems.
System Administration and Network Management
- Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Manage hybrid cloud environments, including Office 365, Azure AD, and on-premises infrastructure.
- Lead the configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of all network-related hardware.
- Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance system performance and security.
Project Management and Leadership
- Plan, manage, and execute IT projects, such as server migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and disaster recovery planning.
- Mentor and provide guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 System Administrators.
- Stay current on emerging technologies and make recommendations to improve IT systems.
Training and Documentation
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for IT systems, policies, and procedures.
- Lead training sessions to familiarize staff with new technologies and updates.
- Support departments in identifying and addressing system needs.
Skills and Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in system administration or IT infrastructure roles.
- Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, and networking technologies.
- Expertise in virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and storage solutions.
- Strong understanding of security principles, including firewalls, VPNs, and endpoint protection.
- Previous experience with ticketing systems such as ConnectWise, Jira, etc.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and insurance coverage.
- CompTIA A+ or equivalent certification is a plus.
