Job description
About Aeon Nexus
Aeon Nexus builds JusticeNexus, an enterprise legal case management platform on the Microsoft Power Platform, delivered in the Microsoft Government Community Cloud (GCC) with a compliance posture that supports public‑sector standards (e.g., FedRAMP, CJIS, HIPAA, SOC 2). We serve justice and public‑safety agencies across federal, state, and local government.
We operate from Albany, NY and El Segundo, CA and collaborate closely with Microsoft and public‑sector partners.
As Software Architect for JusticeNexus, you will own the end‑to‑end solution architecture for highly regulated public‑sector environments—translating requirements into secure, scalable designs; guiding implementation across environments; and setting the engineering standards that keep our platform robust, compliant, and future‑proof. You’ll partner daily with Product, Delivery, Data, Security, and Customer teams to turn strategy into a working system that agencies can trust.
What You’ll Do
Architecture & Design
- Define the target architecture for Power Platform/Dataverse solutions and supporting Azure components in Microsoft GCC, including security boundaries, RBAC/ABAC, data protection, and identity/SSO patterns.
- Own platform data models, data dictionaries, and ERDs; govern solution layering between JusticeNexus Base and client‑specific configuration.
- Select integration patterns (Power Platform connectors, REST, custom API to Dataverse with OAuth2, and serverless/Azure Functions) and standardize message/contract conventions.
- Architect document management (Dataverse for structured data; SharePoint for documents/digital assets) with lifecycle, retention, and access controls.
Delivery & DevOps
- Establish solution ALM, environments (DEV/TEST/PROD), CI/CD, and release management on Azure DevOps; enforce branching and work‑item policies.
- Set Power Platform development standards (solution‑aware flows with connection references, service principals, robust error handling/observability).
- Guide cutover/runbooks and production readiness (monitoring, rollback, and post‑go‑live stabilization).
Integration & Data
- Design and review enterprise integrations (justice partner systems, e‑filing, identity, financials) and govern credentials/entitlements (Entra app registrations, app users).
- Lead data migration strategy (staging, mapping, cleanse/normalize, SSIS/ADF pipelines, trickle/delta loads) with repeatable validation. [
Reporting & Analytics
- Standardize reporting architecture (FetchXML/SSRS where applicable, Power BI models/dashboards, and in‑app visualizations) with row‑level security and data provenance.
Security, Compliance & Governance
- Embed CJIS/FedRAMP/SOC 2 design controls into the solution (encryption, MFA, key management, auditability, personnel posture), and document control inheritance in GCC.
- For select customers, coordinate cleared personnel requirements and background investigations as needed.
Leadership & Communication
- Provide architectural leadership to Solutions Consultants/Engineers; conduct design reviews and code reviews; mentor teams on best practices.
- Create clear Technical Design Documents (TDDs) and decision records; drive exec‑ready communication on trade‑offs, risk, and timelines.
What You Bring
Required
- 5+ years in software architecture/solution engineering for Power Platform/Dynamics 365 or comparable enterprise platforms; expert with Dataverse, solution layering, security roles/teams, and data modeling.
- Hands‑on with Azure DevOps, environment strategy, and CI/CD pipelines for Power Platform/Azure components.
- Proven integration design using REST, webhooks, and OAuth2; familiarity with app registrations/app users and least‑privilege patterns.
- Experience designing SharePoint‑backed document architectures and document generation in public‑sector/legal contexts.
- Strong understanding of public‑sector security and compliance (CJIS/FedRAMP concepts, identity/access, encryption, audit logging).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder skills; able to translate from policy to architecture and from architecture to delivery.
Nice to Have
- Azure serverless (Functions), imaging/annotation pipelines for document automations.
- Data migration at scale with SSIS/ADF, KingswaySoft, and Dataverse performance tuning.
- Power BI data modeling and governance for justice/public‑safety analytics.
- Certifications: Microsoft Power Platform Solution Architect Expert, Azure Developer/Architect, or PMP/Agile.
How We Work (What to Expect)
- Operating cadence & ADO: We plan, track, and report through Azure DevOps (stories, tasks, bugs, dashboards) and share work‑in‑progress transparently with customers.
- Environments & releases: Separate DEV/TEST/PROD tenants with disciplined release management and change control.
- Documentation: Formal FRD/TDD deliverables, inventories, and matrixed views (security, templates, reports, integrations) are standard.
- Quality: We maintain a no‑contractor model with U.S.‑based W‑2 staff to protect client data and continuity.
Core Stack & Responsibilities (At‑a‑Glance)
- Platform: Microsoft Power Platform (model‑driven apps on Dataverse) in GCC; identity via Entra ID with SSO/MFA and RBAC/ABAC. [
- Documents: Dataverse for records; SharePoint for files/digital assets; templated document generation and advanced reporting.
- DevOps: Azure DevOps work items, pipelines, and environment strategy (DEV/TEST/PROD) with change/release governance.
- Integration: JusticeNexus custom Integration API (OAuth2 app‑to‑app), partner connectors, and serverless patterns when needed.
- Data: SSIS/ADF for migration (staging, mapping, trickle/delta); validation and reconciliation processes.
- Compliance: CJIS/FedRAMP/SOC 2‑aligned practices and cleared‑personnel support when required.
