Job Overview:

Translucent Services is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Systems Administrator Level 3 to join our dynamic Linux Center of Excellence & Automation team in Texas. This critical role will be responsible for providing secure STE/STN Linux-hardened images to the Agency across various platforms including C2E, MachineShop, eVo, and CMI6. The successful candidate will possess deep technical expertise in Linux environments, a strong understanding of security best practices, and a proven track record of managing complex systems within programs and contracts of similar scope and type.

An active TS/SCI with a full-scope polygraph is required for this position*

Duties:

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure and hardened Linux images (including Red Hat Linux, Rocky Linux, Amazon Linux, and other flavors) for deployment across multiple platforms (C2E, MachineShop, eVo, CMI6).
  • Develop and implement automation strategies and tools to streamline the image creation, deployment, and management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and standards, including hardening systems according to Agency requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues and provide expert-level support for Linux-based infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver robust and scalable solutions.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of system upgrades, migrations, and maintenance activities.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Stay current with the latest Linux technologies, security trends, and best practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Linux Center of Excellence & Automation processes and standards.

Required:

  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience as a Systems Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • in place of a bachelor's degree, five (5) years of additional Systems Administrator experience (total of 20 years) may be substituted.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph is required.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a technical discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering).
  • Extensive experience with Linux operating systems, specifically Red Hat Linux and other flavors such as Rocky Linux and Amazon Linux.
  • Proven ability to secure and harden Linux systems according to industry best practices and security guidelines.
  • Strong experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Ansible, Python, Bash).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex Linux environments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with the specific platforms mentioned (C2E, MachineShop, eVo, CMI6).
  • Familiarity with STE/STN environments.
  • Experience with configuration management tools.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Red Hat Certified Engineer - RHCE, Security+).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $150,000.00 per year
