Job description
We are seeking an experienced Cisco Networking Engineer to join our engineering team. This is a customer-facing role with responsibilities across both pre-sales (design, scoping, solution validation) and post-sales (implementation, cutover, and escalation support).
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking and Meraki solutions, is comfortable discussing designs and solutions with customers, and can then turn those designs into stable, well-documented production environments. You should also bring working familiarity with server OS, virtualization, storage, and cloud networking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with account teams and solution architects to gather requirements, validate designs, and contribute to bills of materials and SOWs for Cisco/Meraki-based solutions.
- Participate in customer meetings, demos, and technical discussions to explain design choices and answer technical questions.
- Deploy, configure, and support Cisco and Meraki network infrastructure (routing, switching, wireless, security, SD-WAN).
- Perform implementations, migrations, and cutovers, including testing, troubleshooting, and stabilization support.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex LAN/WAN/WLAN, firewall, and VPN issues.
- Create and maintain as-built documentation, network diagrams, IP addressing schemes, and configuration records.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth handoff between design, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Assist with adjacent infrastructure as needed: Windows/Linux servers, VMware/Hyper-V, basic storage, and Azure/AWS networking/connectivity.
- Provide knowledge transfer to customers and internal staff on implemented solutions and best practices.
Qualifications:
4–8+ years in a network engineering or similar role, with customer-facing experience.
Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking platforms (e.g., Catalyst, ISR/ASR, wireless, basic firewall/security).
Practical experience with Meraki (MX, MS, MR; Systems Manager a plus).
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including:
- TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, EtherChannel/LACP
- Routing: OSPF, BGP, static routes
- Security: ACLs, NAT, site-to-site and remote-access VPNs
- Wireless: SSID design, security, RF basics
Familiarity with:
- Virtualization: VMware vSphere and/or Hyper-V
- Server OS: Windows Server; basic Linux skills
- Storage concepts: SAN/NAS fundamentals
- Cloud networking: Azure/AWS VNET/VPC basics, VPN/ExpressRoute/Direct Connect-style connectivity
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to work independently in customer environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
Required / Preferred Certifications:
Required / Strongly Preferred:
- Cisco CCNP Enterprise (or equivalent mid-level Cisco certification).
- One or more recognized networking certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Security+).
Preferred / Nice to Have:
- Meraki-focused training or certifications (e.g., CMNA, ECMS1/2).
- Additional Cisco certifications (security or wireless focus).
- VMware, Microsoft, or cloud certifications (AWS/Azure Associate-level).
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
- Experience with network automation or scripting (Ansible, Python, or working with Meraki/Cisco APIs).
- Experience with VoIP/UC, QoS, and related network design considerations.
- Background in an MSP/VAR environment and familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Meraki Dashboard, Cisco DNA Center, etc.).
What We Offer:
