As part of the Todd & Sargent IT Team, the IT Senior Administrator is responsible for managing and securing enterprise systems that support 150+ employees across both office and field operations. This advanced technical role ensures that our infrastructure (servers, networks, databases, and specialized technology) operates securely, reliably, and efficiently. Acting as a technical lead on complex projects, this role will play a key part in project planning and execution and provides critical support for high-performance CAD/BIM environments.
Beyond technical expertise, this role requires exceptional end-user customer service. This role is expected to support employees at every level with patience, clear communication, and a problem-solving mindset. By combining technical depth with customer focus and disciplined project management, the IT Senior Administrator ensures that technology at T&S is not just functional, but a seamless partner that creates environment of productivity, collaboration, and client delivery.
The What: What this role is responsible for.
Technical Expectations ()
Systems Administration
- Manage Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP services
- Administer VMware virtualization and enterprise storage systems
- Maintain SQL Server databases, including backup/recovery and optimization
- Apply security patches and updates across enterprise infrastructure
- Monitor and optimize system performance for CAD/BIM workloads
- Manage Microsoft 365 environment (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams)
Network Infrastructure
- Manage enterprise network including switches, routers, and wireless systems
- Configure and maintain VPN solutions for remote and field access
- Implement network security measures including firewalls and intrusion detection
- Optimize network performance for large CAD/BIM file transfers and real-time collaboration
- Coordinate with ISPs and telecommunications providers
- Support distributed field operations connectivity requirements
Security Implementation:
- Deploy and maintain endpoint protection and security monitoring tools
- Support MXDR (Managed Extended Detection and Response) solution deployment and ongoing monitoring
- Implement access controls and permission management aligned with NIST and ISO 27001 frameworks
- Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Maintain security documentation and incident response procedures
- Ensure compliance with construction industry security standards
End-User Support & Customer Service
- Provide clear communication with employees of all technical levels
- Model best practices for customer service and coach junior staff in handling end-user support
- Anticipate user needs, document solutions, and contribute to a growing IT knowledge base
- Build trust with employees by consistently delivering responsive, high-quality support
CAD/BIM Support
- Manage Autodesk license server and network licensing infrastructure
- Support high-performance workstation configurations and optimization
- Implement CAD standards and template management systems
- Coordinate with design teams on software deployments and updates
- Troubleshoot complex CAD performance and compatibility issues
- Maintain specialized engineering software environments
IT Project Management
- Plan, scope, and lead IT implementation projects, ensuring clear milestones, deliverables, and accountability
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Provide accurate documentation, project updates, and post-implementation reviews
- Participate in IT strategy and planning to align projects with organizational priorities
- Collaborate with field operations on mobile/remote solutions
- Provide after-hours support and emergency response when needed
Effective Organization and Housekeeping of IT Hardware
- Ensure proper organization, inventory, and maintenance of all IT hardware to ensure efficient operations and easy access.
- Follow protocols for regular audits of hardware inventory, ensuring all equipment is accounted for, functional, and up-to-date.
- Promote best practices for the care and handling of IT assets to extend their lifespan and optimize performance, including guidelines for usage, storage, and disposal of outdated equipment.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent experience
Experience: 5+ years progressive experience in enterprise IT administration
Technical Expertise:
- Strong expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, and network infrastructure
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V)
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices
- Database administration experience (SQL Server preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in architecture/engineering or professional services environment
- Knowledge of CAD/BIM software and high-performance workstation requirements
- Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE, Azure Administrator, or equivalent)
- CompTIA Security+ or similar security certifications
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST 800-171)
- Understanding of construction industry workflows and technology needs
