Cloud Infrastructure Architect (Azure / VMware)

First Century Bank is seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Architect to lead the design and operation of our hybrid cloud and datacenter environment. This is a hands-on architecture role combining technical leadership with direct engineering responsibility in a production environment.

You will play a critical role in advancing the Bank’s cloud strategy and ensuring secure, resilient, and high-performing infrastructure supporting core banking and fintech platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and manage hybrid cloud architecture across Microsoft Azure, VMware (vSphere/ESXi), on-premises infrastructure, and datacenter.
• Lead cloud adoption, system modernization, and infrastructure transformation initiatives
• Architect and support Azure Site Recovery (ASR) for disaster recovery and business continuity
• Administer and optimize VMware vSphere / ESXi environments, including clustering, performance tuning, and lifecycle management
• Oversee virtual machine lifecycle management (provisioning, patching, optimization, decommissioning)
• Manage backup and recovery solutions using Veeam, including replication, restore testing, and retention strategies
• Develop and maintain PowerShell automation to improve efficiency, consistency, and operational standards
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; proactively identify and resolve risks and issues
• Partner with Information Security, Audit, and business teams to ensure compliance and alignment with regulatory requirements
• Maintain documentation, architecture diagrams, and disaster recovery runbooks

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 7+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, systems architecture, or cloud architecture
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and experience supporting VMware (vSphere/ESXi) environments, including design, deployment, and operations.
• Strong experience with enterprise infrastructure, including virtualization, storage, and datacenter environments
• Strong understanding of infrastructure resiliency, backup/recovery, monitoring, and patch management
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and performance issues

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services, banking, or other regulated environments
• 4+ years of experience with PowerShell scripting and automation
• Experience with Azure governance, identity, monitoring, and cost optimization
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates)
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and enterprise networking concepts
• Experience with cloud migration and hybrid connectivity design
