Job description

Our company seeks an IT Specialist who is ‘hands on’ and will be responsible for delivering daily technical support, maintenance, and service to ensure smooth and secure operation of the company’s systems and technology. The primary focus: installation and setup of computers and related technologies, completion of software/hardware updates, and the ongoing support of staff through the helpdesk and ticketing system.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, upgrade, and replace workstation hardware and software, optimizing functionality.
  • Maintain and update software, minimizing downtime and/or service interruptions.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform system improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot network equipment, collaborating with vendors as needed to ensure optimal performance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technical assistance requests via the helpdesk/ticketing system.
  • Provide exceptional support to internal staff through accurate information, timely resolutions, and courteous service.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain documentation.
  • Manage small-scale IT projects.
  • Support vendors and contractors on technical implementations related to projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor operational procedures and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and service quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience may also be substituted for degree.
  • Qualified Technical certifications (i.e., A+, Security+, Network+, MCSE, CCNA).
  • Minimum of 2 years of similar or related experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, appropriate for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical information in user-friendly terms.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze technical issues, troubleshoot effectively, and implement solutions.
  • Sound judgment and able to navigate conflicts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think ‘out-side the box’ for problem resolution.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
  • Proven customer service skills for effective collaboration with end users.
  • Must have a working technical knowledge of Active Directory/O365 and experience configuring network devices including PCs and servers.
  • Familiarity with Windows 10/11, Windows Server operating systems, and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
  • Basic knowledge of Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and VoIP phone systems.
  • Must be able and committed to maintaining regular and punctual attendance.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and motor vehicle for travel to other sites within the KC Metro.
  • Ability to work independently while following established procedures and best practices.
  • Able to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Able to install, move, and access equipment, inclusive of reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
