We’re looking for a dynamic Chief Data Scientist (CDS) to join our leadership team and drive the next stage of growth by building a best-in-class risk function powered by technology and innovation.

Position Summary

As CRO, you will be responsible for building, overseeing, and continuously optimizing the platform’s risk strategy. You will own the design and implementation of risk scorecards, AI-driven underwriting models, and machine learning frameworks that power offer calculations and portfolio management. This is both a hands-on and strategic leadership role: you will architect and implement sophisticated modeling infrastructure while also setting the long-term vision for how AI and data science drive risk management at scale.

Responsibilities

• AI/ML Model Development: Design, build, and maintain risk scorecards, credit underwriting models, and offer calculation engines using advanced machine learning and AI techniques.
• Risk Management Framework: Establish and lead all aspects of the risk management framework, including credit, operational, and portfolio risk.
• Portfolio Optimization: Develop, monitor, and optimize risk-adjusted return strategies across customer segments and funding products.
• Data Innovation: Leverage alternative data sources (bank data, cash flow, behavioral, third-party) and AI feature engineering to continuously improve model performance.
• Platform Integration: Collaborate with Product, Data, Engineering, and Finance to seamlessly embed ML models into automated decisioning workflows.
• Predictive Analytics: Build monitoring and early-warning systems using machine learning to detect anomalies, fraud, or emerging risk patterns.
• Leadership & Vision: Build and lead the Risk & Underwriting team while setting the strategic roadmap for AI adoption across risk and compliance functions.
• Reporting & Compliance: Deliver reporting and insights to internal stakeholders, board members, and capital partners, ensuring alignment with regulatory and governance standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of proven experience in risk management, underwriting, or credit analytics, preferably in fintech, alternative & specialty finance, or SMB finance.
• Demonstrated track record of building scorecards, AI/ML-driven credit models, and pricing optimization frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of risk-adjusted pricing, portfolio management, and loss forecasting.
• Proficiency with data-driven modeling techniques (regression, machine learning, ensemble methods, neural networks, decision trees) and tools (Python, R, SQL, Excel).
• Deep understanding of cash-flow and alternative data underwriting and how to integrate AI insights into decisioning.
• Experience building and scaling risk or credit teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
