JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Program Director will develop, implement, and supervise the Keep it Real Harm Reduction Program and the Aftercare and Outreach Program. KIR provides harm reduction services to individuals throughout Monterey County to develop a strong support system to those working on their mental health symptoms while changing their relationship with substances. In addition, the incumbent will focus on increasing co-occurring counseling services to individuals prior to and following admission to residential treatment programs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Bachelor’s degree in related field with four years of experience in a mental health-related field or master’s degree in related field with two years of experience in mental health-related field and experience working with people with substance use disorders. Must have experience facilitating co-occurring disorder recovery groups. Must be able to demonstrate cultural competency skills. Must possess excellent group facilitation and organizational skills, good written and oral English communication skills and word processing skills. Ability to learn and apply principles of social rehabilitation and recovery philosophy. Ability to relate effectively with clients and work collaboratively with other staff, professionals and members of the community.
Preferred: Master’s degree; supervisory and outreach experience, knowledge of Harm Reduction recovery model, community resources, and Medi-Cal documentation.
Valid California driver's license; auto in safe operating condition; auto liability insurance; good driving record; criminal record clearance; proof of authorization to work in the United States as required by Immigration and Reform Act of 1986. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Assistant Program Director will assist with the following duties:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to: operate a motor vehicle; climb stairs; possess good communication skills; meet the requirements of the classification and have mobility, vision, hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed. Capable of the following extended activities: walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs. Capable of the following intermittent activities: stooping, kneeling, lifting 25 pounds or more and bending in the performance of infrequently performed office duties.
