Job description

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) is responsible for coordinating and completing multiple marina-related projects, assigning responsibilities, monitoring progress, and ensuring timely completion. Key administrative duties include processing invoices and managing permit renewals. This role may also be referred to as Administrative.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee third-party consultants, engineers, architects, and contractors.
  • Monitor active projects to ensure deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Manage and renew project permits.
  • Develop project agreements and contracts with support from internal departments.
  • Facilitate entitlement processes.
  • Supervise construction efforts and ensure compliance with safety and procedural standards.
  • Maintain consistent execution of CAPEX project priorities.
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Collaborate to solve complex project-related issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

  • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment as required for the task or work area
  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses

Technical and Physical Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Construction Management or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in operations experience in civil or marine project management and or experience in construction management
  • Exceptional business acumen, analytical skills and decision-making ability
  • Strong organization skills to manage multiple projects with moving parts
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task, prioritizing as appropriate
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to work a flexible, full time schedule
  • Requires working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Any skills considered standard that an Assistant Project Manager should possess
