A Brief Overview
We are seeking a User Experience (UX) Specialist to support design and development efforts for the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). This role will contribute to the discovery and research phases, develop wireframes, support the visioning of system integrations, and assist in the creation of style guides and rebranding initiatives for modernization efforts. The ideal candidate will have experience in federal environments, particularly within DCSA, and will work closely with stakeholders, product owners, developers, and designers to enhance user engagement and usability.

Responsibilities

• Discovery & Research: Conduct user research, stakeholder interviews, and usability testing to gather insights that inform design decisions.
• Wireframing & Prototyping: Develop low- and high-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes to visualize workflows and system interactions.
• Integration Strategy: Work with development teams to conceptualize seamless system integrations, ensuring a cohesive and user-friendly experience across platforms.
• Style Guides & Design Systems: Assist in the creation and maintenance of UX/UI style guides, ensuring consistent branding, accessibility, and usability standards.
• Rebranding & Modernization: Support the redesign and rebranding of existing applications to align with evolving agency and government digital transformation initiatives.
• Collaboration & Communication: Engage with product owners, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure UX best practices are integrated into development efforts.
• Accessibility Compliance: Ensure all designs meet Section 508 and WCAG compliance standards.

Competencies

• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and UX best practices.
• Experience with federal UX environments, particularly within DCSA.
• Proficiency in Figma, Adobe XD, Axure, or other prototyping tools.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and cross-functional team collaboration.
• Strong communication skills to convey UX principles to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Familiarity with web accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG).

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in UX/UI Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design, wireframing, and user research, preferably in a federal government or DoD environment.
• Strong portfolio showcasing wireframes, prototypes, and user-centered design work.
• Experience working with DCSA systems, security, or clearance-related applications is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of government branding, style guides, and digital service modernization efforts.
• Familiarity with usability testing tools and human-centered design methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in service design or human-centered design (HCD) methodologies.
• Experience with usability testing tools.
• Knowledge of federal cybersecurity and security clearance environments.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
