Job Title: Junior Data Scientist – Infrastructure Analytics & Visualization
Location: Boston, New York, Baltimore, Washington DC, Remote (Hybrid)
Salary Range: $104,000 – $145,600 (annual)

Position Overview:
ARC is seeking a Junior Data Scientist to support infrastructure-related data collection, processing, and analysis. This role is ideal for early-career professionals who enjoy working with complex datasets to uncover insights that shape public transit and infrastructure investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of data pipelines and tools for data validation, transformation, and visualization.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and apply statistical or machine learning methods to support project objectives.
  • Assist with dashboards, charts, and interactive reports to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and software developers to produce integrated data solutions.
  • Contribute to documentation, metadata, and reproducibility best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, applied mathematics, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience working with real-world data in a professional or academic setting.
  • Proficiency with Python and data libraries (e.g., pandas, numpy, matplotlib, seaborn).
  • Familiarity with version control, SQL, and basic data engineering principles.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity and/or experience with state public transportation agencies, federal and state governing agencies and bodies and their regulations and requirements for infrastructure planning or delivery.
  • Knowledge of public infrastructure data types such as GTFS, sensor data, or capital asset records.
  • Experience with open-source visualization platforms (e.g., Plotly, D3.js).
  • Interest in climate, equity, or sustainability analytics.
