We are seeking a talented and motivated Linux Systems Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and eager to learn and work in a large, complex environment.

You will be working on an experienced, diverse, and highly effective team building and operating secure, compliant, and efficient hybrid cloud environments to empower hardware engineers to thrive. In collaboration with service owners, the team defines, discovers, tracks, and acts on development environments for our partner, a Fortune 50 company.

In the Linux Systems Administrator role, you will be administering, supporting, and securing engineering-focused IT infrastructure. You will be responsible for following security best practices and evolving services based on the ever-changing IT security environment. Automation is key for any complex infrastructure; you will develop and maintain the necessary automation to administer Linux systems at scale. In this role, you will work closely with global IT and engineering teams both within AMS DataSerfs and our partner’s staff.

Job Description

  • Function as contact point for end-user concerns on service operation
  • Handle daily administration of complex, large scale Linux-based engineering development environments following Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices
  • Automate the deployment and administration of Linux and engineering services and maintain both existing and newly created automation
  • Stay abreast of current best practices and evolving Linux services to advise service owners on current and future deployment strategies
  • Monitor service function and proactively attend to faults in service operation, improving monitoring and telemetry over time
  • Recommend changes to process and policy to optimize service delivery
  • Generate documentation on service configuration, state, and use
  • Collaborate with peers handling on-premises engineering infrastructure which interfaces with cloud services

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical pursuits or Military Service with related Military Occupational Specialty or occupational training or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • 2+ Years’ experience administrating Linux systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator / Engineer
  • Shell scripting and other relevant automation (Python, Perl, Ansible, etc.)
  • Experience administering fundamental network services like DNS, CIFS, NFS, DHCP, LDAP, etc.
  • Ability to work well with a team in a fast paced, constantly changing environment and follow instructions from supervisors and senior colleagues.
  • Be willing to work with and learn the latest Azure Cloud and security technologies as they are released and implemented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Bonus Experiences:

  • Experience administering IaaS environments: virtual storage with express routes, unstructured storage with an eye towards scale and security
  • Experience with, knowledge of, or coursework in any of the following areas
  • Writing SQL or KQL queries
  • Supporting hardware or silicon engineering teams
  • High-performance compute clusters
  • Azure Infrastructure as a Service
  • DevOps systems and principals
  • Technical program management
  • Military Service in unrelated MOS

Work Hours: Pacific Time Zone

Typical base pay for this role across the United States is USD $70,000 - $130,000 per year. This role is eligible for benefits.
