Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior PHP Backend Developer with at least 5 years of experience to join our team in St. Louis, MO. This role focuses on backend development, systems integration, and PHP application lifecycle management.
You will work individually as well as collaboratively with our IT Development team, reporting directly to the Director of Technology, to deliver and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable web solutions that support our core business operations.
Key Requirements:
- Develop and maintain backend web applications in PHP (5.6–8.x).
- Support legacy systems while modernizing applications to PHP 8.x and MVC patterns.
- Architect and optimize systems integration with APIs, databases, and external platforms.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs for internal and external services.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance and security.
- Work independently and as part of the IT Development team, aligning projects with company-wide goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of PHP development experience.
- Strong backend expertise with MySQL and data modeling.
- Ability to work with both legacy PHP 5.6 procedural code and modern PHP 8.x OOP/MVC.
- Experience with system integrations and external APIs.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for full-stack collaboration.
As a Plus:
- Experience with React JS, React Native, Vue.js, and Tailwind CSS.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and CI/CD pipelines.
- E-commerce, shopping cart, or mobile app development background.
- Understanding of UI/UX principles (a plus).
