Job description
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to manage and maintain our database systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database design, administration, and performance tuning. You will be responsible for ensuring high availability and reliability of our databases while implementing best practices for data management and security.
Database Management & Administration
· Install, configure, and maintain database management systems, including SQL Server and other approved platforms.
· Monitor and optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and load balancing.
· Develop, implement, and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to protect against data loss.
Data Security & Compliance
· Implement and enforce database access controls, user permissions, and encryption protocols in accordance with cybersecurity guidelines.
· Monitor for and remediate security vulnerabilities, coordinating with the cybersecurity team to address potential risks.
· Maintain audit trails and logs to ensure compliance with governmental and organizational security requirements.
Support & Collaboration
· Partner with application developers to design and implement database structures that support application requirements.
· Troubleshoot database-related performance issues and coordinate solutions across IT teams.
· Provide input for capacity planning and future database infrastructure improvements.
Documentation & Reporting
· Maintain detailed records of database configurations, schema designs, and maintenance activities.
· Produce technical documentation for internal knowledge bases and operational continuity
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Database Administration, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience considered.
· 5+ years of professional database administration experience in a secure or regulated environment.
· Proficiency in SQL Server management and scripting, with a solid understanding of relational database design principles.
· Experience with database monitoring tools, backup/recovery solutions, and disaster recovery planning.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Thorough understanding of file structures and design, information retrieval techniques, file access methods, and database controls and standards.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
