General Definition: The Jr. Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting the installation, configuration, and maintenance of physical servers, storage systems, virtual environments, and Windows operating systems. Working closely with the Corporate Systems Administrator, the Jr Systems Administrator helps ensure that systems are running smoothly, securely, and efficiently. This role involves hands-on troubleshooting, system monitoring, and collaboration with the GGS IT team to provide technical support for users and infrastructure.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in the installation, configuration and maintenance of servers, workstations, printers, and other IT equipment. Implement software updates, security patches, and system backups.
  • Maintain the company’s network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, ensuring connectivity and performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues that may arise, minimizing downtime and ensuring smooth casino operations.
  • Provide support in managing VMware environments, including virtual machine provisioning, management, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in optimizing virtualized infrastructure to ensure scalability and performance.
  • Monitor VMware host and guest performance metrics, and resolve any potential issues.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and policies using Active Directory.
  • Apply security patches, system updates, and troubleshoot Windows-related issues.
  • Assist in routine maintenance tasks such as disk management, patching, and system backups.
  • Identify and resolve system issues proactively, escalating complex problems to the Systems Administrator when necessary.
  • Assist in implementing disaster recovery plans and business continuity procedures.
  • Work closely with the Systems Administrator on large-scale projects such as system upgrades, migrations, and implementations.
  • Assist in planning and implementing changes to server, storage, and VMware infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Systems Administrator to ensure optimal operation of all systems.
  • Provide technical support to end-users for network related issues, resolving hardware and software problems, and offering training on system usage.
  • Assist in training company staff on new systems and technologies, and create and maintain documentation for system configurations and procedures.
  • Ensure that IT systems comply with relevant gaming regulations and industry standards. .
  • Ensure high availability and uptime of critical network systems to support continuous gaming operations.
  • Monitor server performance, address hardware issues, and optimize system performance.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree Computer Science or related field
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of server hardware (HP, Dell, etc.) and storage systems.
  • Experience with vSphere and vCenter and managing virtualized environments.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server (2016, 2019, or 2022), including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Basic understanding of network concepts (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP) and troubleshooting tools.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Familiarity with casino-specific systems and regulations, preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible and irregular schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays
  • Must be able to work in a smoke filled casino environment

Training:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an information technology role required
  • 1+ years’ experience in systems administration, preferred
  • Experience working with physical and virtual servers, VMware, and Windows Server environments is highly desirable
  • Experience with Casino and Tribal government technology and security goals strongly preferred
  • Must be able to pass Title 31Training

Licenses/Certifications/Other:

  • Certifications in one or more of the following: Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2), SysAdmin, Audit, Network, and Security (SANS), Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency if applicable to perform the essential job functions
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug test with a negative result

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
