Job description
We are seeking a technically strong, motivated System Administrator II to provide day-to-day operational support for Windows and Linux server environments, associated infrastructure, and enterprise utilities. This role is responsible for incident resolution through a ticketing system, participation in an on-call rotation, and adherence to established support and change management processes.
The System Administrator will also play a key role in identifying automation opportunities, driving operational improvements, collaborating with geographically distributed teams, and supporting large-scale file share migrations to AWS/Azure cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud & Migration Support
- Assess existing environments and provide recommendations for migration strategies.
- Execute migration activities as directed by the Wave Lead and Technical Project Manager.
- Support the migration of file shares from on-prem environments to AWS/Azure cloud platforms.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth migrations with minimal business impact.
Systems Administration & Operations
- Administer, maintain, and support Windows and Linux server environments.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability.
- Perform break/fix support, server builds, decommissions, and system lifecycle management.
- Implement and maintain security best practices to protect systems and data.
- Collaborate with network, security, and support teams to maintain a stable and efficient IT environment.
- Create and maintain accurate documentation for system architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance windows and weekend activities as required.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of Linux server administration experience.
- Experience working within a structured ticketing system (e.g., ServiceNow, HP ITSM).
- Solid understanding of IT service management processes and operational workflows.
- Broad infrastructure knowledge, including operating systems, SAN, CIFS/NFS, networking, and databases.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, CIS, IS, or equivalent professional experience.
- Scripting experience (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python).
- Prior experience supporting or migrating workloads to AWS and/or Azure.
- Relevant certifications such as Red Hat, Microsoft, or CompTIA.
Pay: $55.00 - $62.00 per hour
