Infrastructure Services Analyst
$117,936.00 - $150,883.20 Yearly
The award-winning Alameda County Information Technology Department (ITD) is hiring an Infrastructure Services Analyst for the Information Security Team.
DESCRIPTION
This position is a vital role on the CyberSecurity team defending Alameda County against known and unknown threats. Responsibilities will include cloud governance and security reviews, using defensive tools to review security events, perform analysis to assess risks, review threats and vulnerabilities and support the various infrastructure teams to enhance the county security posture. The position will work with technology teams to suggest and implement security policies and solutions. Work activities will include performing information security reviews, systems analysis, testing, auditing, remediation and the creation of policy documentation. The position will also participate in moderate to high-complexity information technology projects and initiatives pertaining to information security and building a secure modern enterprise. The candidate must understand and embrace modern information security trends such as cloud governance, Zero Trust, InfoSec as a business priority and that identity being the new primary security perimeter.
The candidate may participate as an information security subject matter expert in technology management processes, including change management, problem management, vulnerability management, patch management and cloud governance.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
· Knowledge of how to build a secure enterprise platform including but not limited to perimeter protection required for cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
· Experience with one or more of our core Technology Areas: Security Event Management, Content Protection (DLP, Encryption, Access Control), Cloud Security
· Experience with Windows Hello, Office 365, Windows Azure, Amazon AWS, or other public cloud hosting architecture design
· Understanding of functional Cloud architectures, both private and public and the security controls available to secure them
· Knowledge of key security areas such as Risk Analysis, Policy Creation, and Auditing.
· Knowledge of Security Best Practices pertaining to Network, Server, Database, Web Services, Identity Management, Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM)
· Understanding of virtual environments inclusive of major hypervisors and virtual networks
· Cloud & Virtualization security space (VM security, container security, advanced log aggregation/pruning, Server IPS, Patch and Config Management, Secure Platforms, encryption, etc.)
· Packet analysis and network protocol dissection skills, using tools such as Wireshark/Ethereal
· Experience with security penetration testing, tools, and security portfolio management. Experience with implementation of security tools, management, and monitoring of security systems.
· Knowledge of published security standards (ISO, NIST, PCI, HIPAA, CJIS).
· Previous experience and knowledge of risk management processes including internal audit and information security management. Experience evaluating controls relative to information security frameworks such as ISO 27002 and NIST 800 series.
· Ability to train and present to small and large audiences, partner with other County departments, and coordinate security improvements.
· Solid verbal, written communication skills and interpersonal communication skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in the class of Infrastructure Services Technician in the Alameda County classified service.
OR II
The equivalent of two (2) years of full-time increasingly responsible experience in information security, IT audit, or information technology operations. (Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of experience.)
Must be available to participate in an on-call rotation and work after hours, weekends and holidays.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· 3 years of experience in information security, IT audit, governance or information technology operations.
· At least one of the following certifications is preferred: CCSP, CIPP, CFE, CISA, SANS GIAC, CSE, CSA
SYSTEMS KNOWLEDGE
· Azure, Amazon AWS, or other public cloud hosting
· Office 365, Azure Identity Protection, Windows Information Protection
· Windows Hello, PKI, AD Federated Services
· Modern operating systems including Windows 10/11 and its management
· Network architecture and protocols: TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, NetBIOS, IPSec, SMTP
· General access controls using network firewalls, application firewalls and proxy servers
· Cryptographic methods and standards
Development skills are preferred in the following: Perl, Ruby, PowerShell and Bash, C++, C#, Java
· Cloud certifications are strongly preferred
