Job description

We are a growing health services company with 50+ employees. We are seeking an experienced IT manager with a background and experience in a small business environment, who can join us internally on this journey. In this role, you will analyze our current systems and assets, recommend and implement solutions and upgrades, and provide training.

Our ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of network maintenance within a growing, small business environment, experience managing staff, advanced industry knowledge to keep us on the cutting edge, and is interested in growing an IT department. From day one, you’ll have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of our IT operations, and an ongoing impact on our overall growth.

Objectives of this Role

  • Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware spread out at three locations within the Greater Chicago area
  • Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities
  • Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems administration
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, hardware, and software
  • Ensure IT security and cybersecurity policies are in place
  • Track and maintain hardware and software inventory

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Analyze department needs, identify vulnerabilities, and boost productivity, efficiency and accuracy to inform business decisions
  • Ensure network components meet needs and work together seamlessly, using the full range of capabilities, and stay informed about new features and competitive solutions
  • Continuously analyze current process, technologies, and vendors to identify areas of improvement
  • Prepare cost benefits analysis reports when upgrades are necessary, continuously analyzing vendors to ensure they offer the best possible service and value for company needs
  • Train employees on both software and hardware, troubleshoot, and provide technical support when needed
  • Assess and maintain network and email security
  • Develop and execute security and disaster procedures, and maintain data backups

Network Administrator Responsibilities:

  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain a computer network.
  • Install and configure hardware at data center.
  • Analyze, monitor, and troubleshoot routers, switches and firewalls.
  • Analyze and diagnose computer problems.
  • Maintain and configure remote access.
  • Deploy new technologies.
  • Manage training for other network administrators.
  • Provide end-user support for computers on the network.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or computer science
  • 5+ years experience in IT management preferably within a small businesses environment
  • 5+ years experience in Network administration role preferably within a small business
  • 2+ years experience working with AWS / Azure
  • Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems (MS Exchange, Active Directory, and other Windows-based systems), current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring
  • Expertise with implementing, configuring, and testing solutions
  • Experience growing a business IT network and managing IT systems at a small company. We are interested in hiring someone that can handle fast-growth and make quick changes, while helping our staff ease into sudden changes

This is an internal permanent position only. We are not considering IT firms or consultants. Applicants must be able to provide proof of previous employment with references.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $74,000.00 - $86,000.00 per year
